major plus players
i have been fortunate to play 50,55 and 60 major plus ball over the past 10 years and would like to continue to do so. however with the new rules we do not have enough of players in our state. im curious to find out from all major plus players out there if they have a problem with players coming from adjoining states plus one from any state including cal and fla. it would be interesting to show certain tournament directors how we feel as a group and maybe they will get the message that is what we want. if we the players would like to play best against the best why would the tds disagree. we are only talking a few major plus teams in each age bracket across the country. maybe we can get some good numbers to show the directors before the summit.
thanks

Hank, u r still able to play 50 Major Plus ball. The Stars would love to have u & Billy. In the past, teams were able to pick up 1 player. But, some teams picked up 2, 3, 4, etc. players. (Last yr., a Fla. team wanted to pick up 4 Ga. players to play in our LVSSA WORLD.) Then, players & mgrs went to the T.D.'s w/ their complains. Some players have 2- 3 drivers licenses, or homes in 2 or more States, etc. We have teams that SANDBAG. We have had teams that win a WORLD's & the next yr. change the mgrs name & or teams name, so as to be able to still play in the same division. This has been going on 4 yrs. Several teams have done this many times. (These players do not feel that they have to move up or follow any rule.)
Some players may have 'cheated' or bent the rules 4 their own 'needs'. I know several Major Plus players that play in the 50's & 55's age groups & will drop down to AAA. These players know the rule that they r not to play below Majors, & believe that this rule is B.S., & can play by their own rules. I am sure that u know many players that bend rules, play by their own standards, & can justify everything, that they want to do..., etc. Is it fair, that some teams have full sponsers & most teams pay all expenses out of their own pockets?
Nv. is a small State. Why, should small states be given a different standards? Why, should SENIOR's be given different rules to play by? Everytime a rule is made, someone gets the shalf & a few make out like bandits. THIS IS LIFE! I hope u win several WORLD's next yr. Best wishes...

Hank you know where I stand on this and from the replys on the board you have almost five teams woth of players who feel the same way. This is being done to appease a very select few and that is why.

Most of the Major Plus Players if not all but a very select few want to play the best how else to measure ones ability? There is so much that could be done with this division and it could become big again if only those in charge would stop changing the rules.

You could have a final world series pitting the best teams against each other. You could have a major plus tour that plays in all the associations and worlds and ends with the final world series. You could have each association take their turn hosting this final world series thus truely having the best play the best. But instead of doing something like that the TD's wold rather appease two very selfish people.

Stoneman I will have to play AAA 55+ next year because of these rules and I hope everyone knows that while I like the team (they are my friends) I feel as though I am being forced to sandbag because of this crap.

If the heads of the teams who won this year, Damon's, Thermco, Kelly's, Ruth, Old A's, Bandits say that they won't recognize the legitmacy of associations who discriminate unequally at the major plus level and refuse to attend their tournaments then wouldn't they get the message.
And if that reduces the sheer number of championship tournaments to only a few legitimate ones, so be it.
The closer we get to one definitive world championship the better, anyway.
Then there'll be something to play and fight for.
I'm with you Walk, all the way and sjuhoops, too.
Anyone else?

WALK & HANK: Both of u r great players. In some way, this is a pay
back & a show of power & EGOS. As the rule stands, a player is allowed to play down, only if, there is not a team in that area or one gets 'special' statis.

WALK, in u're case, u r play' by the set rules. Again, in u're case, u r not Sandbagging. This is why, I stated that," when rules r made, someone gets the shaft & others make out like bandits." It is B.S., that grown men like Hank, others, & U r treated this way by Softball Assocations & T.D.s. (Lesser Men.)
LVSSA's WORLD event in Sept. & Oct. was started as an end of the yr. Worlds Champion of
Champions. (Best of the Best.)

Some of the CRAP that is out there is also caused by UMPs & State Directors that have the beliefs that 'they' know what is best & to HELL w/ SENIOR's.
In this State, we have some very bad ASA Umps. These men do not like SENIORs rules, bats, & balls. This States NSA State Director dislikes Senior Rules & does not like the bats & balls that SENIORs have grown accustom to using. Most players & even his own umps can't stand him.

It is a shame, that grown men treat each others this way. It is wrong 4 SENIORs not to stand up & fight this abuse. What group stated, that if, one is a Major Plus player & there is no Major Plus team in that area, QUIT?

WALK: I will miss see' u play this yr. U r a CHAMPION.

Stoneman, right on when you said, "It is a shame, that grown men treat each others this way. It is wrong 4 SENIORs not to stand up & fight this abuse."
Since I joined Senior ball I've asked over and over again when
all were lamenting about bad balls, and silly bat rules, and now restricting some teams and not others regarding player selection,
who makes these rules and why not just say no.
I never talked with one player at any level who likes shitty balls and stupid bat rules, yet, we allow these conditions to go on.
Well Stoneman couldn't have said it better.
It takes balls and people who really care to make a stand when something is wrong and I've had enough.
I got my rings.
I can play with and beat the best softball players in the country.
I don't need to keep investing in something that doesn't bring me happiness and joy.
If you feel like Stoneman and I then you need to stand up like men, and say "No more."
That's the way something will get done.

Stone you and Einstein are right on the point. It is a shame that the very few decide for the many.

The LVSSA will be asked to follow this rule at the summit. I hope they stay stronge and tell the select few HELL NO and do what the players want.

Stoneman to answer your question all I can say is this comes from the TD from the East who lost to GT team last year in the USSSA. He runs two associations and has his own team that competes at the Major Plus level.
