| Aug. 9, 2009 Mango Men's 50 64 posts | What's the Ruling? What’s the Ruling? Player “A”, a starter is subbed for by player “B”. Player “B” is then subbed for by player “C”. In the last inning player “A” re-enters (for player “C”) and is playing defensively in the outfield. Now it is my understanding that this can’t be done (a starter can only re-enter for the sub who went in for him). The opposing team brought it to the umpire’s attention after 2 outs had already been recorded. What’s the ruling/penalty? |
| Aug. 9, 2009 LP 251 posts | as long as player A goes back in the game in the same spot in the lineup he was subbed in for then it makes no differance how many were subbed in before he re-entered. |
| Aug. 9, 2009 Mango Men's 50 64 posts | This was an ASA tournament and we were told a starter may only re-enter for the player who substituted for him. Is the rule different for ASA? |
| Aug. 9, 2009 SLOBALL1 Men's 50 171 posts | No same rule.LP is correct. |
| Aug. 11, 2009 Corky Men's 55 436 posts | Lp is right. NSA also notes that player (A)original player and his/her substitute (B) cannot be in the game at the same time |
