Good news for everyone! It is 6 weeks until Christmas and only 14 weeks until our first tourney in the Bham area.

I have hosted a practice tourney ( 1 day ) prior to the first national senior tourney in Montgomery for several years. It is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2010.

Just trying to get an early read on who might be interested in the surrounding Southern states. Please let me know on here or call me at 205-647-2881. Formally known as Scrap Iron Steve---now: Stryker Steve ( 60/over team ). Thanks and have a wonderful Holiday and Holy day season.

I've played in this tourneyment for the pass 2 or 3 years and always had a great time. I'm pretty sure I'll be playing with someone in Birmingham.

Thanks Joe, I appreciate your endorsement. Hope all is well.

Some other info: Will not play if under 50 degrees. 4 team pools, rr format, guaranteed 3 games. Entry is $200 and includes umpires and 3 softballs ( u-trip balls ). Single elimination for pool winners. 5 homeruns, then singles. One hour time limit for games in order to complete tourney by sundown.

If everyone will agree, I may ask for a little experiment in first game. 9 scores the first inning, 8 scores the second, 7 scores the third, etc. 5 scores in the fifth and following that open. But called if 15 run lead after the 6th inning. Crazy?

Probably not the best time to have posted since everyone was headed for Ft. Myers.

Hope now that it is over, some teams will express interest. Thanks

Hey Wes, this is not a sanctioned tourney, but most of the teams will be SPA.

We will be preparing for the first SPA event in Montgomery.

You probably could pick up. Stay in touch after the first of the year. I can tell you something then. Thanks

I see that SPA has published their schedule for 2010. The Montgomery tourney is the 3rd weekend in March.

So, my little practice tourney will be on Saturday, March 6. Our games will begin at 10 a.m. and the tourney should be over by 6 p.m.

I already have 4 teams committed; will take no more than 16. Thanks

Wes, I would be glad to have your team in our tourney. It is a practice tourney. There will be very few 65/over teams in the tourney. So, we divide the round robins up as fair as possible.

Call me when you get in town. It is a holiday, however, not sure what my schedule will be. But there might be 2 or 3 of us who could hit some--depending on the weather, of course. Thanks

Response has been good already. I already have 8 teams interested. Please let me know if you would like to participate.

Tourney is open to 50's - 65's, AA-Major.. We will divide into pools as best we can and accomodate older teams (65's) playing younger teams. Thanks

Steve Bruce,Tom,Bubba,Goose,Jim,Don,PattyMac and Wes have a great Thanksgiving. The ball flys well at this field. When you leave the park you will say that was a fun day of softball. Go on down to Birmingham a Pass A Good Time.
