The results of the gold division were as follows. 1st Metro Star TPS 2nd Indiana Classics 3rd Chicago Storm 4th OG'S Silver division 1st Zeppelin 2nd Brickyard Softball 3rd Nashville The rain created a problem on Sunday turning the double elimination into a single elimination. |
June 14 rabbit Men's 70 319 posts | I do not know about the silver division in the 50's, but we played a double elimanation in the Gold divison, and the only game that didnt get played was the Championship game between the Metro Stars and the Indiana Classics, the Metro Stars were awarded first place because they scored 5 runs in the last inning to beat the Indiana Classics in the finals of the winners bracket, the final game would have been another good game as we each play each other a lot and most games are always close, they have a very good team , it was our best showing of the year after 4 tourneys and I believe by Aug and Sept nationals we will be back on top of our game, I thought The SPA tourney was well ran, the only thing i thought they should have done was put all the 8 teams together and play a double Elimanation that way. I also heard that the Indy Fog and Nancy Allen won thier first tourney in the 55 division,by beating out for first place a very good Dixon/Indiana Legends 55 team ,with the legendary Butch Drake on the team.Thats all for now, see you all in Champaign, Ill in early July for a SPA qualifier and in Cullman ,Alabama for the NSA Worlds at the end of JULY , Rabbit, coach of the Indiana Classics |
June 14 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Rabbit, thanks, you are pretty close, and congratulations on your finish. We won the AA portion of Johnny's tournament last weekend, and we did take home the hardware this weekend, but we did not actually get to play the Legends although we wanted to. The rain finally took over the diamonds right before we were to play each other for the winner of the winners bracket. Since our records were the same (2-0), and we had no head-to-head, SPA's next tiebreaker is runs given up, and we had given up less. We had a great weekend and beat two teams that have kept us down for a long time. The guys played so well, and we are hopeful of continuing to have a good year. Maybe it is true that some things get finer with age. See you soon. |
