| Feb. 14 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | BruceinGa, I mentioned some time back someplace about the cold balls and bats there would be many broken or crack ones. Chances are some weren't even noticed yet either. Bat warmers would have helped a little, but the hard balls were their doom. |

| Feb. 16 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | Even the effort to push more AAA teams into the major category (and push a few majors to Major+) seems confused at present. Note that in the 70 AAA category, the Nor-Cal Renegades came in second, even though SSUSA has them rated as a major team (and this before their significant upgrade in talent over the winter). Major teams being allowed to drop down; only 19 major+ in the country in 50s. Who has the solution? |

| Feb. 16 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | Thanks, Sal. You're probably right. The SSUSA date for last ranking was in October. Guess I thought you played where your team was ranked before the TOC, not what it was earlier in the year with a potentially weaker team. |
| Feb. 16 Jawood Men's 50 943 posts | The solution is just drop the Major-plus division. All they need to do is put a small handicap on the teams they think are a little bit stronger and go play. The remaining Major-plus teams without the Mavericks around are not that much better than most Major teams, if at all. |
| Feb. 17 curveball Men's 65 705 posts | Jawood, in most cases, there is a talent difference between Major and Major+, that's why the difference in ratings. If you want to keep the competition even and have more teams in the elite division, make your age group larger for the Major+ guys. Go to 30-58, 59-65. At least you would'nt be penalizing the Major guys. And, as far as "without the Mavericks around" you'd better check your sources again, I think they are still a team, and the one to beat at that. |
| Feb. 17 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | curveball, Mike Adair who played for the Mavericks posted a note on this forum back in December stating that after 17 years, the Mavericks were disbanding. He had received a letter from Ken Lipinski, their Manager, to that effect. Please advise if something has changed. |

Perhaps one of their players will post and get us up to speed on their team for 2010. Double 10: I think Mike Adair posting thinking it was over, but then there was a change of heart.............. Also I assume you caught my typo, age group 50-58, not 30 to 58! |

| Feb. 18 Tate22 Men's 60 280 posts | Jawood Don't worry, the Mavericks will be playing this year and are pretty much intact from last year. Some of the bigger names may play less, but they still exist and plan on playing regularly. Ken Lapinski is still very much involved. We, Nighthawks 55M+, get to play them twice this weekend in Temecula, CA. I agree with Jawaood that they are an excellent team, well managed with great guys, that challenges every opponent to play well and improve. Don Newhard |

| Feb. 22 Tate22 Men's 60 280 posts | Jawood: Unfortunately, the tournament got rained out. By Northwest standards, the rain we had wouldn't qualify as a mist, but the fields weren't playable. The Mavericks are still on the Ratings list, shown as the Seacrest Mavericks, as they have been for a few years. I know you are with me on combining M & M+. We are going to have the same issue all year with no 55 M+ teams to play and will likely get stuffed in with 50's teams again. No response from SSUSA staff on a survey of M & M+ teams to resolve this ongoing question. Take care: Don Newhard |
