Discussion: NEW WHITE VETERAN BAT

Due to someone posting a web-site name which is not permitted, my previous thread was removed so I'd just like to say again that the New White Veteran bat performed well in SSUSA summer practice and felt very solid. I think the break-in period is longer than we're used to but after that, It's in line with the other top brands.

I could be mistaken,
as rare an occurrence
as that might be,
but naming the website had nothing
to do with it.
SSUSA is in the practice of removing
entire threads if/when someone posts
anything disparaging or libelous
on them.

I saw nothing about SSUSA. In fact I think they have been very helpful. The guy that runs the bats said SSUSA has been great to work with. My understanding is no ad's can be placed. In terms of the bat I think time and players will tell.

I am the one, if no others posted the web site name. Someone asked a question or two about the bat and I just referred the site name for that guy.

We too had a very good morning practice
with this bat, in fact we did not swing anything else. It was new out of the wrapper. Long break in, but real solid. Not only were we impressed with the bat, but with Bill the rep, also. He was very informative and can hit too ! We would definately endorse it. Fan Grabber Softball.

I got to particapate in this bat demo. Johnny Hose is right real solid bat. There were seven or eight of us and we batted twice each with 30 to 35 balls hit per round. The field we were on has a 325 foot fence and there were balls clearing it. I personally feel even with the 400 to 500 hits we put on this bat, I do not think it was fully broken in even after we finished hitting with it. Solid bat I am happy with its performance. I think I'm the first Senior player to hit with the new Veteran GBA model with "God Bless America" on the barrel.
Well, let me just say that this model has a lot more POP than the all White model. Still has that different sound to it but I'm hoping that means it's much more durable than what we're used to. email me if you'd like additional info, see earlier post.

Hey guys.... ALL of the bats did ship. Besides the regular update emails Bill constantly gets, he also had to take the time to update all 200+ as "shipped" and physically get them shipped out. If you got what you considered a short reply, please know that he is just extremely busy ramping up some new things that will blow your mind in the near future. A lil birdie told me.

Now go anxiously stalk your usps/fedex/ups guy and go hit your bats! Cant wait to hear everyones reviews and see some of these at Worlds in Oct

I am not that good of a hitter to judge so I gave the bat to some big hitters that use the U2. Let's see what they say.

Had the pleasure of hitting with the new White Veteran 27oz Balance today & yesterday...The bat sounds broken in right out the wrapper(and with the wrapper)..but of course there's a break in process.I hit about 250 44/375 balls. not many for distance, but I hit a lot of seeds though the infield "which I like" It seem to be a little more durable then the ultra 2, I'll have wait till it's broken in for the distance eval..But so far so good! To me the 27oz fill's a little lighter, more like a 26oz. so you big boys may need to order it a oz size bigger! I'm a bat speed guy, so it works for me!I love the balance, it fills and sounds really nice, playing in a turnney this weekend, should have more reviews after the live play.
The paint seems a little slippery, pop-up serveral times and that's something I don't do as a hitter, (so it can't be me)hopefully it's the paint!..lol
I havn't had the pleasure of hitting with God Bless American model!!!

Good news. I should be getting mine today or tomorrow. I am a combat man but decided to try something different and save $30.00. Will see, if it is worth it.

Paco 13...I too am a Combat man..never have really liked the Ultra 2's, but I do have two in my bat inventory. I've started using them as my BP bat.To me the Ultra's just aren't that durable! I'm still using my combat it has lasted two seasons and I play 10 - 15 turnney a year against major & Major + Pitchers.
This white Veteran might become a good second choice!

Here is the email I got from the guys that hit the GBA bat.

Tom,
Thanks for letting us use this stars and stripe bat. We had a white Veteran and liked it but this thing is unbelievable. Over four days we had 12 guys hit it and put about 500 hits. The bat is dirty but just like new and no signs or sounds of cracking. Performance is second to none in our opinion. If there is a better senior bat out there we have not hit it but still some will keep using their Combat or U2. This one is end loaded and I like a balance but not a big deal. Sounds a little off but you get use to it and after 200 or so hits it sounds great.
The part we liked the most is the God Bless America on the barrel. Nice to see and a great touch. Wondering if you wanted this back or can we pay you for it.

Take Care,

Bob C.

I also thought you would like to know that GSC shipped out 12 bats to Iraq this week for the a softball tournament for the troops. Someone caught wind on the God Bless America on the bat and asked if they could send a dozen out to the troops there. I just thought this was cool.

I have been using a white veteran for about 2 months now in batting practice and league play. It did not have the distance of the U-II, and sounded completly different than the combat or U-II. I now probaby have 600 swings on it and although it is still a little short of the U-II it gets 300+ for me on occasion and has no cracks or marks. If I had put that many swings on a the Ultra,Im pretty sure it would have been cracked by now as I've already gone though 2 this year. I have ordered the GBA and will be using it in Georgia this week.

I ordered the White and and they sent me the GBA, beautiful bat, thanks. I put about a 100 swings on it and still very stiff. Definetely not the POP of any other senior bat. It's more likely a USSSA, for us line drive hitters with ocassional power it is a good buy, but for U big boys I believe that it will be a dissapointment. Another thing is that sounds almost like a single wall. In my opinion not a senior bat, just a pretty USSSA bat, but the price is right and if it last as long as some others say, then it is all good. My 2 centavos.

I don't think Paco13 gave his GBA enough break-in time. This bat needs about 200+ hits to fully break-in as some of the earlier posts state. It sounds different because of it's construction and yes, it is a composite. Give it just a little more time.

Had the plesure of hitting with the White veteran in live combat this past weekend..Still needs a break period for the distance...BUT WOW what seeds did i hit though the infield. I like this bat a lot, seems real durable, I already have about 400 swings on and it still look new..great paint job, doesn't seem to mark-up that easily. I have teammate that had the GBS model, he cracked his along the seams after 100 swings..I think the model has a fractory defect or maybe just this batch of GBS, I've never seem a bat crack along the seams...All n all I think this one is a keeper.....

My GBA had this seam problem.
There was a small group of GBA bats (ony about 4 or 5) that had a seam issue. Those bats have been or are going to be replaced. Please note that there are over 300 of these bats out on the field and only a handful had this problem and as I said all those bats have been taken care of. You know that poo poo happens and the customer service from GSC is second to none.

I am a new member here with no history on the board. In fact I only started reading this section about three months ago. I thought it would be of interest to get a review from someone outside of the reader base. I live in Marin Country just north of San Francisco and play in NorCal Senior Softball. Age is 61 and can still hit ok for an old fart. Heard the buzz about this Veteran bat and ordered one about two months ago. It performed well but for me did not give me the distance the U2 has. It did in my opinion close to the yellow MM Combat. Two weeks ago I received the Veteran God Bless America model and have been hitting three days a week. May I also point out that I have cracked six U2 bats in the past 14 months and have not got more than 300 hits out of any of them. My yellow MM has done ok but the last one had a end cap problem but overall it has done well and hits great. I use my white Veteran bat for bp and have at least 800 plus hits with normal marks on the bat. Truly a tank of a senior bat.

In terms of the GBA Veteran I would have to say it feels very strong and at 150 hits is outhitting the U2 but by only by a short amount. I do like the feel of the swing it seems to get more bat speed but I cannot say for sure. The sound is odd but after awhile I got used to that. My GBA has well over 300 hits and looks new. Last part of the this review is the fact that I could talk to the company one on one. It is a small outfit out of Arizona and very easy to reach and talk to. I hope they do well and with God Bless America on the barrel they are off to a great start.

I stand corrected; last night I took my GBA for another session and it did wonders. So I changed my opinion it is a senior bat and performs as well as the combat...do not like U2.

Wanted to add to the post that for seniors that need a ASA bat in the bag as well GSC is bringing out the Spirit GBA in a few weeks. Have not hit it but my guess is it will be right there with other ASA bats and it has GBA on the barrel according to the pictures on the web site.

I just took some swings with my GBA senior bat and it felt pretty good. Hit a couple out about 330ish. You can tell it needs some more hits on it.

We now have six GBA bats here. One cracked but the company replaced it right away and it has been solid. I would say that the bats have well over 200 hits and know for sure mind has about 400. There is no debate about performance. Not one guy thinks there is another senior bat that can out hit it. The consensus is the GBA is the same but it is looks like it will last much longer. Looking forward to the ASA model as I have to play ASA when I get back to Arizona.

Just got back from hitting with my 50 & over tourney team. I was swinging my GBA 26oz veteran bat. It was about 50 degrees out. The bat had about 75 swings on it prior to today. This bat is starting to open up really good now. The ball was going 325 plus with nice easy swings. Maybe this maybe is a cold weather senior bat? Haha!

I am about 1/2 your size and most of our team are of normal size. Our GBA bats have 300 to about 1000 hits. We hit 5 days a week. Twice a week I play in the east valley ASA senior league and have been use the new Spirit GBA. So it is good to hear you have also had success with the GBA.
