Playing Under The Lights In Phoenix
I played a few games under the lights in Phoenix the past two weeks in both the 60s and in the 50s division. I don’t know what the lights were like at the other complexes but at Desert West it was scary. I had a number of my team-mates comment that they could not see the batted ball go by them and I had a few go by me at first base that I only heard. I also played some games under the lights in St. George and did not experience the same problem.

I wonder if not more softball complexes could be utilized to ensure games are scheduled during the day or at better lit facilities?

The Chavez complex has the worst lights I've ever played under. I haven't experienced the lights at Desert West.

As you move into the older age groups, they seem to do a better job of scheduling your games at night. We played 11 games last week (65+) at Chavez and Desert West , but all were in full daylight.

We played the 630 game at Desert West against Yeager Blue this year and the lights were terrible. Their right center fielder had 4 or 5 balls hit that he never reacted to until they hit the fence or ground. Lucky that nobody was hurt. we were able to see a little bit better than they were.
