MK, Tater is home on the injured reserve, tending to a bad knee and foot.
We defeated Al Estes at noon today and are scheduled to play Thermco at 6:00pm.
Sorry, I don't have results from any of the other divisions.

I hope the TaterinGa gets well soon.
Let me know who was in the major plus and give me a game by game as it proceeds por favor.
Good luck to your Miken Old South team.

Mike: thanks for the concern. I had knee surgery in 1991; for about 8 weeks it has been weakening, now it is at the point that when I bend my left knee I collapse to the ground. Going for MRI next Thursday. I hate missing the ASA would be there if at all possible. I even put on a solid leg brace & tried to swing & something popped, so I was foolish, but I wanted to go real bad. Hope the tests prove OK.

Tater
PS Hate staying at home washing dishes, clothes & mowing the lawn. Oh, I guess I was not suppose to state that I do house work; sorry, not for Hire.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a miniscus which i had surgery on in 2000. Darn knee was popping and giving out just like yours.
Bad timing as it cost me going to the 45 + worlds that year with the Dan Smith team and it is costing you the big events as well.
Keep your spirits up and root root for the rest of your team that is still playing.
Best Wishes

We lost to Thermco Saturday evening and Sunday morning we lost to Al Estes. I don't know the outcome of the Thermco/Al Estes game today.
I would like to commend ASA and the City of Burlington. City Park was a great place to hold a tournament.

Sorry to hear that you guys did not win it as i had predicted many different winners in the 50 Major plus division this year.
Can you give me some names from the Al Estes team. I have never played them guys yet??
Thanks

MK, Bobby is the only one that I know on Al Estes. He used to hit at the Woodlawn Hitting Club in St. Pete, Fl. I believe most of them are from the Tampa/St. Pete area.
This is the team that beat us in the SSWC Spring Nationals in Fl. earlier this year.

Al Estes sounds like another real good 50 Major Plus team. Hope to play them and your team next year.
Let me know if you hear the final outcome of the if game.
Thanks Again

Bruce..That is correct Al Estes Bail Bonds is ASA Champs. They beat us 19 to 17 in the "if" game. They played great defense with the wind blowing in, and that was the difference. We were home team,n and trailed by 2 going into the bottom of the 7th, First two guys singled. so we had 1st and 2nd with no outs. At that point, I was confident that we would at least tie it. Then, BAM!! TRIPLE PLAY!!!!!!!! Congrats to the boys from Florida for a very Well deserved Championship.

Play Great "D" to WIN!!!!!!!

Turn Two/Recko/County Sports won the 55 major plus. I was told that they won the final 21 to 0. Congrats to a dominant team in that division.

Wow, we all like ending a game on a double play when on defense but a triple play is a 1 in a millon.
Can you share any of the Al Estes players by name or do they play on any other teams??
I am looking forward to playing them next year.
Strange how our 2 teams never played each other this year and we were in 2 tournaments together??
Overall though we did play a lot of teams in those 2 events that we have never played before.
I enjoyed talking with 5 or 6 of your guys in Des Moines and wish you guys good luck for the rest of your year.
Thanks

I hear you buddy.
Even tho we were defending ASA Champions from last year, the current border rules resticted us from bringing a competitive team this year.
Next year i plan on going to the events that we have not been to go to before as a team once they get rid of the Ca. and Fl. border rules.
Events like the NSA, LVSSA, Mabe even Manasass as i hear RB is now playing with a good ball.
We will always look to play USSSA and if the ASA is in Oklahoma City next year like they were saying then we would also go to that. Plano Tx is a must next year as i have not been there since 2003 and never with the Kelly's Team.
Last couple of choices would be between the SSWC and the SSWS.
We should get to see you guys and play you some next year and i am looking forwrad to it.
Until then have a great year.
Thanks

Bulington was one of the best run tourns. in all of the years that I have played senior softball. Fields were dragged after every game and watered down each night. The umpires, knew that they were not always perfect and did what was necessary to resolve argumentive issues. Some good ole fashion softball was played at the best. Good balls, fields, umps, and Southern hospitatlity. The competition was fierce at all the levels. Next year Burlington is having the tourn. back, so it should be a MUST on your team list. The pre-tourn party was inviting and another great way to meet teams from other areas of the country.

Sounds good for next year in Bulington then as we all like the kind of event you said it was.

I would think that the Florida Crush would attend next year as well with the borders being open and it being so close to them.

Thanks for the feedback.

Billymac; JAH 4, Bruce: Boy I hated to miss this one. Knee was so bad I put on a stiff brace to try to come. Would love to have competed w/the top teams like Thermco & Al Estes. Both teams are high class. Congrats to both. I bugged Bruce & JAH 4 Friday & Saturday. I think they saw caller ID & turned me off, I called so much. Hope to be at PC.

God Bless.

Any Al Estes players on the board would love to hear from you. Give us all a shout.

Al Estes is from the central Fla area. All of our player live within 60 miles of our coach. Player you might know would be Rick Osterman, Rick Suares, Bobby Davis, Steve Lockhart, Dave Matta, Jack Lambert, Hale Lee, and Gary Hogan some of this guys have played for Ed Rose and Johnny Mac. We are a low budget teamas we pay our own exspense ecept for entry fees. Thank all of you who have said good things about us. It is always a pleasure to play the Old South Gang. Their a great bunch of people and a very good team on and off the field.

Congrats on your ASA National Championship.
You beat a couple of real good 50 Major Plus teams to win it.
The triple play to end it was an awesome thing.
I played with Ed Rose in 1999 at the 45 USSSA worlds in Coco and might have played with some of the guys you mentioned but i am not sure.
Looking forward to meeting your team next year.
Thanks

MK...Being relatively new to the senior scene, and being somewhat antisocial until I get to know people, I have no Idea who is who. Sorry.

It appears that your prediction about multiple champions was right on the money. Cinderella seasons like we had last year come few and far between. We are done for the year. I'm broke!!!!!!

I should be able to earn enough to attend the SPA & SSWC Winter Nationals, but it will be with next year's team.

Good luck to all the Senior teams still in the hunt for a championship.

Tater...Thanks for the kind words. Everyone missed you in N.C. (teammates and adversaries). I hope to see you out there again soon.

Go slow with the knee. I rushed my comeback after getting cut in February, reinjured the knee. and missed most of the season as a result.

Thanks Billy: as far as the Al Estes bunch, keep your butt kicking team in Florida away from us LOL!. No congrats; you guys are great & hope to see you at Ft. Myers or the SPA Winters. Still thinking about how I almost was called out against Al Estes on the 3rd strike @ the Spring Nationals SSWC @ Altamonte. The ball missed the mat by about 1/2".

I play with AMI and we won the 55 Major Division in Burlington last weekend. I agree that tournament was run really well. We beat the Florida Storm team in the final. Low scoring game at 7 to 6 in top of seventh we scored 8 runs and held Storm to 4 in the bottom half. During our awards presentations the players on Mican Florida team which had the next game were complaining because they had flights to catch and we were interfering with that.
Nonetheless, ASA put on a great tournament.

I just looked into my crystal ball and thought i saw another new winner in the 50 Major Plus division and i predict Pine Knob wins the 50 Major Plus in Las Vegas. Just a hunch so dont bet the bank on it, my bad never mind that you already spent the bank this year, hahaha
Sponsoring a team is a ton of money and given the up's and down's year your team had i find it refreshing that you don't seem frustrated with it all.
I to will start rebuilding some for next year as i know your team and the crush will be coming out a lot stronger next year.
The less restrictive border rules will entice me to at least 5 or 6 of the worlds next year.
Untll then take care and be safe.
