Jan. 8 birdie Men's 70 802 posts | Hey Gang, I would like to purchase a new ASA approved bat and suggestion. Thanks Harry |
Jan. 8 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | heard the reebok ASA melle is not to bad.i have a combat anti-virus and afflicted for my ASA ones, along with my fastpitch bats. did hear(aka rumor mill at the moment) that ASA is gonna ban the easton extended and flex's and also the miken freak 98's as they are the ones that get painted so often.the TPS voltage(mdl 73v only, not the 78v). |
Jan. 8 birdie Men's 70 802 posts | Mad dog, I am almost afraid to by anything new for the ASA because it usually gets ban in a year or two. Thanks for the input. Harry |
Jan. 9 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | birdie, anything made now(2010) and after will be ok(i think,LOL),as they have adopted a newer bpf.also they are going to the 52-275 ball and a stiffer bat is better for this ball anyways. |
Jan. 9 Gloffer 24 posts | Easton Salvo, new Miken Freak, Miken ASA Recoil if you can get it. Of the new ASA bats you can get, the Easton Salvo seems to be the bat of choice here in Arizona. Sports Authority has them on-line for $199 and you can probably get a coupon to lower the price to $174. |
Jan. 9 jwo-9 Men's 60 14 posts | birdie If you can find the original orange crush, the one rated 100mph with the 2000 asa stamp you can't go wrong. It is still legal. Stay away from any but the original mzc4. The second issue and those that followed stinks |
Jan. 9 birdie Men's 70 802 posts | Thanks guys |
Jan. 9 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | jwo, forgot about those, but have heard that all 2000 stamp bats are not gonna be legal in the future,2 years or so max. i liked the blue rage and the red fury, wasn't that big a fan of the crush, and never swung the black original one. |
Jan. 10 Bomber23 58 posts | Guys, don't forget the new Gates "SPIRIT" ASA Composite. It's hot and on eBay! |
Jan. 10 Marv19 Men's 60 498 posts | Or you can get it from us also. Same price. Go to the site an hit the "Bats and Stuff" tab and follow instructions. |
Jan. 10 neck10 714 posts | how can you paint thos easton bats they have thos raps on the handle never seen one of the extended or flex's painted the miken's are a different story |
Jan. 10 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | thats what i said neck, the miken is one for painting, the eastons go way past the 1.20 bpf when broke in,thats why they are getting the ban,the rumor i heard. |
Jan. 11 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Original Miken V-1 velocite has worked well for me for ASA; used it until mid 2006 in SSB. I have owned 17; still have 5, 2 brand new. Had one rolled about 4 years ago to see what the hype was about; but I never used it in a game; sold it, my conscience would not allow me to use it. The V-1 is hard to find & I think it is still useable for ASA. Tater50 John |
Jan. 11 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | tater, that is a good bat as long as u can get used to the sweet spot being nearer the end of the bat than other bats.i had one and had a prol hitting the sweet spot with it,but when i did,oh yeah.i would keep an eye out with ASA tho as i have heard that the 2000 ASA stamp bats won't be allow after 2012 or so. |
Jan. 11 The real deal Men's 70 114 posts | Voltage SB73V (Louisville Slugger). Great bat... |
Jan. 11 zonk 55 posts | The SB73V was banned by ASA a few days ago. I would suggest the Easton SCN3, SCX3, SSR2, SRV4, Rip It Reaper, Miken Recoil, Anderson Nanotek, Demarini RD28, The One.12, etc. ASA bats are not cheap. |
Jan. 11 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | I think ASA did that because the 1st batch run had too many that got through without a sleeve in it. I've seen both & used them, there is a substantial difference in performance. Not very many good bats are reasonably priced. |
Jan. 11 titanhd Men's 60 640 posts | None of the 73V were produced with a sleeve. The 78V which is still legal was prodcued with an internal sleeve.Taits you are correct the difference between the two is remarkable. ASA banned them (73V)because once broken in they exceeded 1.25+. Add the fact that we still had idiots shaving and rolling them on top of that.In my opinion ASA made the right decision. |
Jan. 12 zonk 55 posts | Crazy thing on the SB73V, SA had them on sale at clearance prices. Crazily, unil the ASA banning, they were selling on ebay for ~ 500.00 used, name your price NIW. |
