Great Tourney Fla. Crush and Thermco
We played in the SPA Winter National this past weekend and saw and played against one of the best teams put together and was still short at least 2 outstanding players. When a team that is so strong that a Terrell Stokes is your leadoff and Patty Mac is the # 2 hitter with 3 hall of fame player in that lineup they will be awesome this coming year. the only way you can maybe beat team is in pool play where they are only limited to 7 runs per inning or get them on a 400 ft fence. Johnny Mac My hat goes off to you for putting together a very good team. With scores out of pool sroreing 35 to 45 runs in 3 innings other teams are really going to have to hit with them to have a chance to win. Also was the 55 version of Thremco a very good team that will stay on the path of winning National and worlds in that division both great job this past weekend in Pensacola both played great looking forward in playing both of you again

Great Tourney Fla. Crush and Thermco
You're right Don (jah#4)! Both Thermco and the Crush hit the ball extremely well. We had our chance to beat the Crush but couldn't score one more run.
Both team put on a hitting exhibition reminescent of the old major teams of the 70's and 80's.
Congratulations to both theams for the respective championships.
Jimmy#7, Crush plays out of the Southeast while Thermco plays out of the Northeast. Both team play 50+ Major Plus.
The next senior tournament that I know of is the SSWC Winternationals in Ft. Meyers this comming weekend. I don't think either team will be there. That means we will have a better chance of winning! lol!

Another senior moment Jimmy. Thermco now plays 55+ Major Plus.
Gary19, the fences there were very short, 280' according to earth.gogle.com and the fences were16' or so high. There were many doubles that hit off the fences. If there was any wind at all it was blowing out. There isn't a need for the U2 if we use a good ball. This weekend SPA used a Super Blue Dot, 47/525. All bats must meet the 1.20bpf rating.
Thanks Ridge and Steve for a well run tournament.

I sure wish we had an edit button. SPA allows all 1.20bpf bats except for the following:
1. Genesis SB34
2. Synergy SCX2
3. Miken Original (Gray Bat - Balanced & Max-load)
4. Miken Ultra I I
5. Titanium Bats
6. Fast Pitch Bats
7. Powerhouse Team Players Model (BFP 1.20)

I would like to add my congratulations to both The Crush and Miken/Old South. Both teams are full of class players. We always have great battles on the field, and the ability to be friends when the games are over, really makes for fun weekends.

Johnny Mac has a super team even without his 4 missing starters. I'm extremely proud of my own guys, especially the 3 that were playing out of position due to our own short numbers. With the short fences, we were able to give the Crush all that they could handle.

Special kudos to Johnny Mac for his coaching genius. We went into the bottom of the seventh in the "if" game chasing 8 runs. We managed to score 6 and load the bases with only one out. At this point, with the tying run on 2nd and the winning run on 1st, we put in courtesy runners at first and second. While the ball was still dead, we switched the 2 runners to put them in the proper position to make sure that one of them didn't come to bat while he was still on base. John protested the move by saying that since the runners had already touched the bases, we couldn't switch them, and that the lead runner, if not both of them were out.

After 15 to 20 minutes of suspended play, while attempting to find the rule (which didn't exist) in the rule book, it was decided that we could put the runners wherever we saw fit.
Even though John lost his protest, our momentum had been broken due to the stoppage of play, and the final tally was in favor of theCrush 32 to 30.

John's managerial move deserves as much credit as his players' abilities in this particular win, and I can't say that I will be sad to not have to face them all next year.

I only hope that we will be allowed to play in our own age group from now on.

Oh Yeah, Patty Mac, "Three Minutes!!!" you hound dog

peace
Hit To WIN!!!!
