In Division 4, I wonder why OTE 55 AAA was playing in it with Get R Done 65 AA or visa versa. Seems lopsided from your post on it.
Was an Equalizer there? If so what was it? I am Curious that's all.
Nice selection of team there.

This was a good tournament, and the Tucson Bandits are glad we went. The fields were outstanding, and like Marv said, the weather was gorgeous.
It could have been even better if it weren't single elimination after four meaningless seeding games. Maybe next year a couple of warmup games, then double elimination. I talked with several different teams, and they all felt the same way.

But other than that, good job Marv.

Single elim... 4 seedings ??? No chance to redeem oneself after a bad game.
Still wondering about my 2 questions above.

Scott: We had 5 teams cancel in a matter of less than a week before the event. They didn't all do it at the same time so we had to redo the schedule 4 times. We shuffled teams around to get the most competitive mix with the ones left available. Yes equalizers were used. We have to b/c we don't have a huge turnout here locally. I would have loved to see more equal teams in each division as I'm not a big equalizer fan but it just wasn't to be. Maybe next year. The seeding and double eliminations are good points. I just wanted everyone to get 5 games in. AND they all did. That was my goal. That and keeping people happy. Which is in some cases is impossible :O)

Marv-sorry I didn't get a chance to go and meet you-popped a hamstring in Denver. Wow-probably the most 'color' ever in the back of my leg. Hopefully Dennis will extend the invite again for next year.

I heard it was 7 teams that bailed out... but in any case, even one can hurt.
As is evident for some in other assn's.
Ok you used equalizers. Still I doubt the brackets were equal. Mixed in M teams with some others even though Div 4 made a surprise showing I think. Good for Tommy & crew.
I know many of the teams, but not all. Do know many players in the area though.
What about teams loaded up say a players who is M+ playing down to AAA level? That went on? You know better.
Or players playing on 3 teams? Another mistake.
WasnÕt Rezults Realty loaded up with major players?
Anyway, I think Debax had a good suggestion.
Well intentioned thoughts or ideas are worth considering. As a business man you know that.
Hope the nest one is better for you. (Plural)
Temperature drop was great, but here we took a humidity hit so it was a trade off.
Just food for thought & consideration with the objective being fair play under the rules that govern senior softball. And if you want a "which rules"
I would have to go with SSUSA.
Still hope to meet up some place at some time.

Scott: As for loaded players we follow the SSUSA rules governing this. My T.D. Jerry Smith knows a lot of players names and faces. But not everybody. We don't have a way to verify players and their ranking for obvious reasons. We rely heavily on the players and managers to police as well. There may have been more but I'm only aware of one player on a roster that shouldn't have been. This was dealt with as swiftly as possible. Only one player wanted to play on two teams in DIV#1. He was told he had to pick one, he did, and that was settled. I suspect the one player on 3 teams is an exaggeration of what I just eluded to. There is a lot of money at stake ($500 in 4 divisions in the Chase for the points) for the October 1-2 event so we will be as diligent as possible. Rules: We follow SSUSA (In case you're following this thread and are loading up for Oct 1-2 there will be a 1 point deduction for each illegal player found on a team) Rules: We only differ in that we play HRs as one up then a dead ball single (runners do not advance unless forced) Equalizers are added from the first inning as opposed to the 2nd. Aside from that. Everything is SSUSA. As for the mix its the luck of the draw. I had all 50M M+ and 55M M+ divided into their own bracket then the bottom fell out. I was very disappointed to say the least. It was send 3 teams home or play a 9 team bracket. We did our best to match up the 50s with 50s and 55s with 55s in seeding. I couldn't have done it any other way IMO. As for the other brackets it was the best we could do under the circumstance. If you look at the individual games there were very few run away's. In DIV#4 the championship game was decide by one run. You can't please everyone but we try and I think that's all you can ask for. Thanks for the input. MR

Not here to argue about cost for sure, just trying to find out why some things didn't seem correct.

OTE 55's played 3A yet have major players on it, for one. Sure a couple or so no problem with me, but I get more.
2 teams loaded with former OTE players are the 60 AAA team and Rezults Realty with 5 60 Major Plus players, that finished 1 and 2.
That from my source, but appears out of whack somewhere as for being kosher.
Enough on that but the one up is IMO, the way to go.
Did not read the thread mentioned for me to make these comments.
you have a good thing going down there,
You say the mix was by the "Luck of the draw"...? Is that out of a hat or what...lol. I do not think SSUSA does it that way & doubt they would unless it's a odd number of teams and they need to move someone to another short bracket or the like. They put a lot of thought into it.
I was not there, so I do not know first hand, but rather from a player who was.
Boils down to listen to the feedback, if it make sense think about it and act upon it. I feel Jerry is a good partner. Although I do not remember him he told me we played against each other years ago. Probably a decade ago.
Keep it going, but do it right.

Thanks, Marv-already about 3/4 speed but playing in protect mode. I have a history with these things in the last 3 years, but it is getting better.
