I felt that way about some others too.
However the phrase has been around as far back as I remember playing ball in grammar school in Babe Ruth.
Live with it, I do.
Biggest pick up as you say could well be described with the Huntsman Games. Open rosters which make it very appealing if you want to meet and play with teams from all over the US and Canada.
However the best place I have yet to go to to play as well with real turf, friendly people, well run games other than the ones way off in bracket placement which does happen.
Try going here but you will spend at least the 500 dollars but get 4-5 days for it with so much more as well. Most of the 500 will be lodging and food, only about 90 for actual cost to play. but that is really given back in the other stuff available during the week.
I miss going there but can't afford it now.

Gary, while I do agree with your thought in principle, the truth is that USSSA allowed us to pick up a certain number of guys before going to a World Tourney. In 1983 we played in KS (A World) and picked up a couple of guys from Joe Theissman's to play in NC (1-2 weeks later, Open World).
This was true in other instances as well. I do not recall how ASA treated this but it was because of its rigidity that NSPC was born.

wood, I understand that. ASA used to, in the 70s I believe, as well.

But that, I think, was organized picking up in that I believe it could only be one or maybe two guys, and they had to be from your Region.

Is it controlled in that same way now?
