I see in the major plus division you will be ables to score 9 runs / 1/2 inning and there will be no mercy rule. Some games could get real ugly if one team does not hit. This may need to be looked at. All the other rules are not too bad.

Very nice win for the city of Las Vegas.

Donnie, one could look at it that way easily but one other is if there were a mercy rule you may only get 4 or 5 innings. All depending on how they set that up...
Bad enough only getting 5-6 innings occasionally, anyway.
I think the merger is pretty good, but its what is not in print you could worry about
Time will tell.

Taits,
You will not get that many innings anyway because of the time limit. I assume there is a time limit except for thr championship. It is a good idea. I know it will have to be ran better is SSUSA is in charge.
Can't wait for this years tourney. See you there.

Donnie-games getting ugly if you don't play well at that level is a fact of life. We won games big and we lost games big when I played open, and maybe that's a price for playing that level. The merger looks great to me-it really opens up the M+ division. SSUSA should benefit from this.

the possible merger is a plus for both organizations. hope that they will listen to player input on rules. i understand that rules from both sides will be scrutined closely. one rule in LVSSA that need to be look at and hopefully not adopted is RULE 1.A.2 PLAYERS PLAYING DOWN. this rule allows MAJOR PLAYERS PLAYING DOWN TO AAA OR AAA DOWN TO AA. i have never agreed with this rule . i dont think it is right for teams that go "pure" AA OR AAA to go plays teams that have added 1,2,3 players from the stronger rating. IF A TEAM is short players, they should be added from the same rating or below , and the team adding the players must really be short, and not just adding players to make them stronger. my .02c.

armiho211-while I fully agree that AA and AAA teams should not be able to pick up 'major or M+' players to strengthen themselves, the definition of players of those levels again becomes the issue. What is a M or M+ player? There are so many AAA players that could play higher but can't or won't. Maybe they are .800 hitters and play great defense, but have little HR power. The could easily play on a M or M+ teams, but since they haven't they are still considered AAA players. Then there are M and M+ players that hit .800 and play great defense but have little HR power. Because they have played at that level, they are considered M or M+ players. They are identical players. It is not really so easy to define 'pure' teams and it almost is a penalty to the above described player that he 'played up'. Short of a player by player rating, the system will have it's fallacies. I think some players should be allowed to move back down in certain cases. The unfortunate side effect is the cumbersome workload trying to implement a truly fair system. You probably will never get there.

Sorry, I did not mean to start another thread. I believe this is a great move for both organizations. Especially great for Las Vegas and Nevada with its high unemployment. The competition will be outstanding. Team roster will be getting do overs that is for sure.

softball4b - I think this is the way it should be. The best of both WORLDS. Winner will be real champions and the competition will be fierce. (Comment moved from previous thread)

I really don't think this is going to make teams want to play at the Major-plus level, unless they make them. The thought from most teams will be there is no way they can compete with MORE HR's and MORE runs avalable per inning. Eliminating one tournament will probably get more teams and putting the winter nationals in Phoenix will definately get more teams there in November. They should move that up a bit because in most areas, we can't play after about mid-October.

The fact still remains that there are not enough teams to warrant a Major AND Major-plus divison! That is STILL the problem. If all this came together the way it has and they combined the two, then that would be a great deal.

Jawood,
I think this year is already set on who is going to Vegas. Had this happened a couple months ago it might be different.
Next year may well tell a different story. However the mixing of ratings and or ages when the brackets are few will be the kicker.
Over all, I think it is a win, win, win situation. The 3rd being the city of Vegas.
The one thing I never have liked is the outs for any div. But live with it.
The players and teams should have better games and they can once again have a larger pool to draw from. Should be interesting.
The one T that should 'move up' is the TOC. Three or four months after the seasons last T is tough on many of the eligible teams to go with the same players.
Restructure in ratings may only effect a few between the tow assn's.
Should be interesting, anyway.
