| Oct. 3 rightrj1 Men's 55 286 posts | Ratings Clarification Hey Guys, I'm trying to understand this rule; ROSTER COMPOSITION RULES * §15.1(1) B. 3. A 'Major' team roster shall not have more than three (3) players with a team affiliation rating history during the previous two tournament seasons greater than Major for the 2012 tournament season, and not more than two (2) such players for the 2013 and subsequent tournament seasons. [Major Rule] Does this mean that you can have 5 players that played Major for the past 2 seasons & you can add 2 major + players and still play in the Major division? Or only 3 major players & 2 major + players to compete in the Major division? I'm confused... Hopefully one of you can clarify this for me? |

| Oct. 3 Duke Men's 65 908 posts | r rightrj1, Your roster is limited to 20 players. Per your question, you can have 17 Major players and 3 Major Plus players and still play Major. That would be 18 Major players and 2 Major Plus players after the 2012 season. Of course, you can start out that way, but based on performance, you could be moved up to Major Plus during the year. softball4b, I can only assume that you are asking about qualifying players for the Phoenix Worlds?? I wouls assume that all players had to play in a qualfying tournament. Generally, a manager will pick one qualfying tournament with most of his players. Then he will have to call up to SSUSA to get the other guys that did not show up to that one tournament, an approval to allow the other guys. Good idea to get that in a followup email and print it and bring to Phoenix. I needed to use it once at a manger's meeting. These other guys would have had to play with the team in more than one tournament usually. If you asking about adding players that did not play any qualifying tournaments and/or the team is short players for Phoenix, then you have to call up to SSUSA for an approval and again get that in a followup email from SSUSA. | Oct. 3 SSUSA Staff 3505 posts | r rightj1 - It means that in order to be rated a Major team, the team's roster composition must be: • For the 2012 Season: NOT more than three (3) players on the roster may have team affiliation history at the Major+ level in either 2010 OR 2011; and • For the 2013 Season and thereafter: NOT more than two (2) players on the roster may have team affiliation history at the Major+ level in either 2011 OR 2012 (computed on a two-year rolling player history). The practical effect is that the former un-stated policy of allowing up to five (5) such out-of-rating players has been discontinued and replaced by fixed limits on out-of-rating players, at three (3) for the coming season and two (2) thereafter. The same limits also apply with respect to AA (for AAA history players) and AAA teams (for Major history players). Teams that exceed the new limit of 3 will be re-rated to the higher rating lavel. softball4b - Short answer: NO - Major+ rosters do not have to be qualified rosters, but the players must be otherwise eligible to compete based upon meeting the residency and age requirements. Those players will also accrue Major+ team affiliation history for the next two seasons. |
| Oct. 3 rightrj1 Men's 55 286 posts | r Duke & Staff, Thank you...So if your team gets moved up for the 2012 season are all of those players now classified as Major + players, therefore if starting a new major team you will only be allowed 3 of them from that team to still be rated major? |

My team played all of the 2010 season and the first half of the 2011 season as a 50 major plus team before our appeal was granted to be re-rated back to 50 major. How will this new rule effect the players on my team going forward in the 2012 season? The rule states no more than 3 players on the roster may have team affiliation history at the major plus level in either 2010 or 2011. Will our team need to split up and only retain 3 of our current members? |
