| Oct. 17 steve65 Men's 65 177 posts | I have a question for everyone. A player in our fall league has an old Miken bat. He first painted the bat gray then covered that with black and placed Easton stickers on the bat. The bat retains the Miken end cap. In this league we can use whatever bat we desire so I am at odds as to why someone would go to all the trouble he has to disguise a bat. Any thoughts out there??? |
| Oct. 17 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | Yeah steve 65, I can think of a few. 1. He's a cheater and this is a disguised bat for use when Mikens are not allowed. He wants to stay fresh with the feel so he hits in fall league with it. 2. He's a cheater and is using an original gray Miken Ultra which is likely NOT allowed in your league since it is banned about everywhere. 3. He is a prideful man and wants others to think he is hitting the long ball with an ordinary Easton bat. 4. He is a newbie and someone gave him (or sold him) the altered bat and told him it had a lot of pop and he is clueless as to its status. 5. He is a joker and likes to pull the chains of guys in the league because the bat really is just a normal Miken and nothing more special than what you're using. |
| Oct. 17 tinman Men's 50 75 posts | I played a doubleheader in my Sunday fall league this week against a young team of strong players.My team which is over 50 can use senior bats.The kids used altered ASA bats and 4 different players hit balls that were 80-100 feet over a 285' fence.They chirped and hit middle throughout the 2 games which we split.I am told this is what goes on at many tourneys today.For once I am glad to a senior. |
| Oct. 18 curty Men's 60 187 posts | A similar situation in our fall co-ed open league. The ruling at the time: ALTERED BAT= ILLEGAL. This was appealed and the ruling was upheld at the state level. |

| Oct. 18 Duke Men's 65 908 posts | mad dog, Absolutely! Do not pitch to him. In a league game, some guy was using an illegal bat. The umpire caught it, and just through the bat out of the game. This guy was in his early to mid 50's hitting rockets at 75 year old guys. A total self-centered jerk. All the pitchers from the other 5 teams got together to take care of this issue ourselves. We decided to walk him no matter what the situation, every time he was at the plate, even if, it meant walking in the winning run. After all, these games do not mean much and are just for practice and friendly competition. After about 3-4 weeks of walking him, we have not seen this guy for the last 2-3 years.
