Winter worlds - Vegas
Come on SSUSA get rolling on this so we can make our travel arrangements. It is less than a month away for the 40s and you still can't tell us what fields we are playing at or when the games will actually start. Flights get more expensive everyday that we have to wait.

kbl...Just because they are accepting teams until 11/1/11 doesn't mean we should have to wait for field assigments or day of play. SSUSA fees are already high enough. So if we wait until two weeks before the tournament to know when we need to fly in it just raised the cost of our air fare.

SSUSA usually spreads their tournaments out over a two week period, so why don't they have stagered entry cut offs. Whatever fields are used during week two should not effect what fields are used during week one.

For the prices they charge for entry fees, which are more than standard USSSA or ASA
fees, they should be working with us a little more.

The 40-Masters divisions (Men's and Women's) are playing on Saturday-Sunday, November 19-20. Field assignments will be determined and published within a few days of the November 1st entry deadline, and you can assume that you will be playing in the city of Las Vegas. The post-tournament wrap-up for the World Championships was concluded late last Friday, and the Winter Nationals in Ft. Myers, FL, is the next major tournament on the schedule, so more specific information about Las Vegas will not be forthcoming until that tournament is administratively handled first. As always, information is always available on this website as soon as it's been determined, so check the tournament page from time to time.

We always advise teams to plan their travel schedules as though they will be playing in the first game of the day, typically at 8:00 AM, and they will be fortunate enough to win the "If" game, typically scheduled at 3:30 PM on the last day. You should make your own travel plans accordingly.

SSUSA staff, that is nice and all but check your hotels. everyone of them says reservations must be by Nov 1 or earlier.

With your new rule of having to be at the park 30 minutes before game time, I would like to be as close to the park as I can. I appreciate the discounted hotel rates but would prefer to know where we are playing before we book those rooms.

All tournament staff are staying at the Eastside Cannery on the Boulder Highway as a matter of convenience and room rate economics. None of the parks are a long-distance commute problem (not like Phoenix, for example), and Las Vegas traffic will be a non-factor when the 40-Masters play on the weekend only. Specific field assignments will not be determined until later this week, at the earliest, so that's our best shot at giving you good advice in the interim.

SSUSA- please keep the 65's,70's, 75's and 80's out of SHADOW ROCK COMPLEX, PLEASE!! last year it was or felt like 30 -40 degrees and the wind coming out of the hills was around 40-50 MPH. maybe the younger groups can take it, but the older groups ARE THIN-SKINNED DUE TO ASPIRIN AND STATIN PILLS , SO WE WILL FEEL THE COLD ELEMENTS !. PLEASE HAVE MERCY !!!

SHADOW ROCK??? The 65+ and more senior groups played only at Big League Dreams and Desert Breeze last year (2010), and that's the intention this year as well. We used Shadow Rock for Session #1 in 2009, but now that BLD is available, we're fine in only the two sites mentioned.

There are 12 Men's 40-Masters teams entered so far, and the deadline is not quite here. Last year there were 13.

If you stay at the Eastside Cannery or anywhere on Boulder Highway you are less than 20 minutes from all the fields except for Desert Breeze. Desert Breeze is a good 30 minutes away from the motels on Boulder Highway.

Once you get off on Decatur it will take you 15 minutes to get there.
But I always stay at Arizona Charlies East . That way I am no more than 20 minutes from most parks
