JAH first place in the 50+ gold, Thermco second.
Tri State first in the 50+ silver
Matador Club first in the 55+ gold.
Huffman first in the 55+ silver, Alabama 55's second.
The Matador Club (55+) were placed in the 50+ gold double elemination tourney where they won the winners bracket. They were declared the champions of the 55+ gold and the JAH Masters and Thermco battled to determine the 50+ gold champs. It was a high scoring game with JAH winning 43 to 40 (if I remember correctly).
Does anyone have the results from the other age groups?

More Montgomery Results.
1st place The Johnston Cabinets (Pensacola 60+)
Runner-up, Old South
3rd, Huffman Electric
A great tournament. Things I noticed:
Plenty of shots up the middle. Very few ball left the field for HR's
ASA umpires calling the director for the correct information.
Field not dragged for the championship game.

I forgot to mention that we used a 44 cor 525 comp ball. In our seven games there were only maybe 5 hrs hit. I think that because of the ball there were more shots up the middle. Our oposing pitchers were hit twice, one in the foot and the other in the shin. Neither required medical attention.
The tournament was run very well and my only complaint was that we only had four teams in our division and we were the last to finish Saturday night, about 10:45 pm.

BruceinGa, hello.
What class is your ball club?
The 5 hr's hit, were they from major teams? Or some AAA teams also?
Thanks

We are a AAA team. Our guys hit three and our opponents hit two. We did play Matador Club Friday. They are major plus. They didn't hit any but they run ruled us anyway.
It was interesting the way the bracket was played. The Matador Club played the other 55+ teams on Friday but Saturday they played in the 50+ gold division. Their competition was Mission, JAH Masters, and Thermco. After they won the winners bracket, they were awarded first place in the 55+ gold divison.

BruceinGa-Did you play at Lagoon Park? Are the fields still 285 +/-? It appears the Matador Club must have been strengthened since last year...any players they picked up from the Orange Crush or Faith Electric?

Yes, we playled at Lagoon. I think the fences are 300'. The Matador Club picked up Mike Jackson and Don Beard (I think thats his name) from Faith and Paul Arguella (sp?) from Crush. I think they said that they have 23 guys wanting to play with them. I told them that they should try to get an exemption from SPA to let them have a 30 man roster!

BruceinGA-The only name you mentioned that I recognize is Mike Jackson; he's one tough out! I was thinking Paw Paw - can't remember his real name - was going to move up from Faith to 55 this year also. He is a little left-handed outfielder who has good pop and runs like the wind.

I was well pleased w/the fields, umpiring, & the competition. I am glad that it concluded on Saturday so that we could get home for church. I also have a suggestion: give us wall plaques for trophies, they are easier to mount on the walls.
