Gary19, you talk about players with dimished skills and that's true to a degree. How about senior guys to go to the gym, take more BP than they ever took when they were young and work hard at the game. Yes, they may be slower with less speed and had-eye co-ordination but they may be better prepared, smarter and more dedicated than when they were young so there is a balance. I'm talking about guys who work at the game and try to stay in shape. I know some senior playes who are pretty good now but weren't worth shooting when they were younger.

tattoball, there's a guy named Andy Purcell, who plays for Resomondo. Resemondo is probably the best team in the world and they play against the top teams in the young guys conference. The people who face Andy, and these guys are getting paid to play at the highest level, talk about he can control a game with his pitching. Maybe you've never faced a "great pitcher" or your a better hitter than the guys who have thier names on manufactures bats.

Discussion: Pitching Rules

It's great to see freedom of opinion being expressed. Using ASA/SSUSA rules for pitching is what most of us have played for years. Good umpires should know what a pitcher can and can't get away with. If the umpire doesn't enforce the rules that creates a bad situation. Good pitchers also know how far they can push the envelope. Some pitchers will violate the rules and it's the umps job to stop this. Any "good" pitcher changes speed, arc, position, motion, etc. They should take any advantage they can to get us out. My opinion: Hit good balls & bats. A 6-4 score in softball doesn't show good pitching & defense it shows lousy hitting. Give me a 25-24 score any day.

Discussion: Cracked my new blue combat today

Joe, waiting 1 to 3 months is ridiculous. These bat companies have gotten totally out of hand. Customer service is a thing of the past. The only company that seems to act quickly on a return is Miken. I've sent them two bats, with legit receipts, and they replaced both within two weeks. Hope to you guys in Marietta.

Discussion: Reebok Senior Bat

Just a heads up. I contacted my Reebok Rep and he gave me an address to send my bat for replacement. I contacted Reebok to check on the status of the return and they ask me for an RA# (return authorization number). I told them the rep said send the bat to this address and he didn't mention I needed an RA#. I knew from sending bats to Worth & Miken an RA# was required but from what I was told by the rep I just sent the bat in to Reebok w/o an RA#. Reebok had the bat for almost two weeks but when I contacted them they had no record of recieving it. When I gave them my UPS tracking # they found my bat. They promished to contact me with a return status, that hasn't happened. A great performance bat but Reebok has some real problems in the warranty/bat return end of the business.

#6, I don't see anthing in "Why Part 2" that addresses the bat/ball discussion. If you're talking about attending the SSUSA Annual Convention why would I do that? I'm giving the SSUSA my proposal right here on their very own website.

#6, you say they did address it. Can you provide some details? Who addressed it? When did this happen? What was the forum? Was it addressed by a committee? I don't recall seeing anything about it on this site but I could have missed it. And finally, what were the findings? Evidently it was to keep the balls/bats we're using now.

To SSUSA, SPA and all parties involved with the Summit why can't you poll the masses and give the majority what they want. Having a hand full of players proclain they speak for everybody is ridiculous. The banter back and forth is amusing and good points have been made but until the organizing parties address the bat/ball controversy all we are going to have are individual players giving their opinions and nothing is going to change. To the organizations please take charge, exercise your leadership, be proactive and most importantly give the majority what they want. Comprise one poll with as many items as you feel need to be addressed and send it out. I think you'll find the game as it is today is the preferred game.

Maybe it's time for Senior Softball USA, SPA, et al. to send out a poll to all registered players and ask them what ball and bat combo they prefer. I know the SPA already does somethng like this but lets get all senior players/organizations involved. Let the majority be heard and go with the popular vote for a couple years and then send out a poll again. My bet is the good bat/ball combo Einstein talks about would be the overwhelming choice.
