My point is if you do not take care of the above using
1 and 1 will not get you 7 innings

One tournament does not make it a fact
Unless you have run some tournaments, more than one, you do
not understand how mean, unkind, etc. SS players can be. A
tournament director would try anything to make you all
happy---1 and 1 did not do the trick---if you want to get
7 inning within your 60 min+ one inning:
1. The coachs need to get their line up in on time.
2. The coachs need to be at home plate ready to flip.
3. The next batter needs to be standing ready to bat not
shooting the S it the dug out.
4. If the coach is going to put in a runner have him
ready. I also play and we all know who will need a
runner before game starts.
5. Some teams still want to throw the ball around each
inning. Some want to throw it around after an out.
6. If I start the first game at 7:30AM or 8:00AM so that
we can get all the games in by supper I get compliants.
7. If we start a game after 4:00PM or 5:00PM you get
compliants.
8. Etc
I have tried 1 and 1--it is not the ansewer---if you guys
want to play 7 innings--- make sure you and your team is
ready to play when the clock starts and keep to game moving.
If you see that the umpire is not ready call the tournament
director---unpires are a problem also---they do not take charge of the game and keep it moving
Etc

By Cameo Smith Mt. Wolf, Pa

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautifull children stormed through heaven's gate
Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air
They could hardly belive all the beauty they saw there
They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say
They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day
"Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse
"This is heaven." declared a small boy, "we're spending Christmas at
God's house
When what to their wondering eyes did appear
but Jesus, theit Savior, the children gather near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
Then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
And in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring.
Those children all flew into the arms of their King.
And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace.
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
And as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad"
Then He looked down on earth, the world far below.
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land
"May this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
Then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"Come now my chilfren, let me show you around"
Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
All displaying enthusiasm that only a small childs can.
and I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

That's great thanks but the 64,000 ??? still is
if he is forced to vacate and does not by standing on the base--if I tag him is he out
or do I have to throw home???

Staff thanks again, is there a section in the rulls that say that the runner on 3rd must "vacate the bag"???
I started playing third 2 years ago and the first
time it came up was when I tag the runner standing on third then steped on the bag and then
threw to second. Ump called it a double play
telling me the only way to get the runner out at third was to tag him while he is off the bag or
throw home.
the wood is right it happens alot and there is
no clear ruling from SPA or SSUSA unpires--I
have also ask SPA for rulling in writing.

Ground balls
Thanks Staff the umpires were very clear that the
runners did not have to move.

Sisavic that's why you must throw home first
unless you can tag him before he get's back to
third

Bases loaded one out ball hit to third base, third baseman catchs ball tags the runner standing on third base then tags runner coming from second base--double play--NO unpire said you must throw to home and then back to third--Ok

Same tournament new umpire base loaded one out, ball hit to third, third baseman catchs it (WOW two times in a row)throws it to home plate, catcher throws it back to third baseman and
he tags the runner coming from second. double play--NO umpire
said that the runner on third does not have to run as long as
he stays on the base you can not put him out.

STAFF I would like to get a ruling on this that I can put in my bag to show the next umpire what the rull is---I do not
know which right

If runner does not have to run then if all runner stay on thier
bag who is out the batter---also if batter hit's to second base
and runner does not run to second but stays on first who is out
the batter---this would stop all double plays

Discussion: Grading the Rule Changes

1. 1 and 1 does not speed up the game you just think it does
2. Pitcher like it because it's one less strike they have to
put in play
3. If you want to speed the game up have your on deck batter
standing in the on deck circle and NOT in the dugout
shooting the s---.
4. If you want to speed the game up stop taking 3-5 min to put
in a substitute runner

Discussion: PLAYER RELEASE

ALL OF THE ABOVE
This is a major problem I think and I'm not sure that it's a single players fault
or a managers fault.
I would play two or three weeks a month if
I could find a team that would play that much, I would pay the fee so money's not the problem. I have played on three different teams the last three years because THE TEAM would agree to play in say
6 or 8 tournaments, they would play the first one and when it came time for the second or third tournament two or three player would say I can not go, for what ever reason, so we are now down to 12 or 13 player and some of the others would say I'm not going with just 12 or 13 player. So we do not go. We would end up playing 3 or 4 tournaments a year. I'v played on teams from Ohio-Kentcky-Ind.& Mo.
I will be going to the rules committee next
year for both SPA and SSUSA with a rule change. This is the rule change that I'm going to propose---help me make it better.

A player may play on no more than three teams each year as allowed in other section of the rules. A players base team,in each age group, will be the team
he plays the first tournament with each year. A player my play in a tournament with a second or three team, in each age group,as long as his base team is not playing in that tournament. If his base team is playing in that tournament he/she
must play with his/her base team.

Now the way I read this is that if his/her
base team goes to TOC then he/she must play
with the base team. On the other hand if the base team does not go to TOC then the
player may play with the second or third team he/she has played with.

Discussion: Tournament Prizes

I can not tell you what changed because I did not play 10 years ago:
New Balls cost $45/doz and the players want two NEW balls for each game. If you have 50 teams x 5 games=250 balls x 3.75=$937.50. The players want two ump's
at $15/ump's x 250 x 2/ump's = $7,500.I you
want a score keeper $15 x 250 games = $3,750. If you want good fields and you want them striped and raked after two games
and you want staff ready to repaire the fields after a rain. $30/field/game x 250
games $7,500. If you give a bag/plaque
for first place @ $50 x 15 = $750 and second place at $35 x 15 = $525.
That's $20,962 + water/cups, misc./50 teams
= $419/team. So you cut back on ump's and you do not use a score keeper. On all the tournaments that I had I had $500-$1000
out of my pocket

I'v heard this befor and I have provided this info before.
I ran a tournament for a couple years and this is one reason that I stoped.
Let say you have a tournament for
50-55-60-65-70 and you have AA-AAA-M
and lets say you have 15 player/team.
So you are going to have 5 x 3=15 winners
x 15 players = so you need 225 hats
The best price I could get for a embroiderd hat at, mid price was $17 Each x 225 each =$3,825 and you have 50 teams---$3,825/25= so I must make my fee $76.50 higher so I can give out hats---???? so do you want to go home with a bag or a hat and have the tournment fee $76 higher???? Most player said they did not want to pay the extra $76

WoW--Just hit 200 at BP with my new White
Combat---on the first hit, to the fence,(I'm 72) it sounded like a long lost "Wood Bat"--it feels good and hit well all day----now if I can just get Combat to make a 30oz, had to take a 28oz,that would be the only thing better.
