Discussion: Compare the Senior Softball World Tourneys

Great subject, Don ! - Good business would dictate that the TD's & organizations, etc., will be reading and take it all to heart for future success.
A few things I look for is - better scheduling (not a dragged out tourney), 2 umpires/game (who care), and field condition.
I was most impressed with the SPA handling of fields this year, esp. in Pensacola. They cared enough to drag the (good dirt)fields after every game (it CAN be done!). Scoreboards informed everyone and reduced confusion.

ASA does not impress me - they need to catch up to the times.

Discussion: POLL: Age bracket Runthrough or sliding

50/55 sliding. I prefer the added "...or get out of the way.." description (thanks, Airbosn !!)
Don't want to add too much verbage to this post , but it has always bothered me that most umpires do not adequately call the situation where a runner blocks the DP throw to 1B, after the force at 2B, by standing up/purposley covering the view or etc. I've been at tournaments where the SS hit the runner, just to prove the point. I'm not sure I can do that.
Sliding is a fundamental part of the game, which should be available, in stead of the "run through". (also see good notes on "Run Through" - 8/8/05 thread)

If you can't say something positive about our troops, I respectfully suggest we keep this site only about softball.
Thanks.

Discussion: Soldier Support

Hey, guys - just want to thank all of you who have contributed softball equipment for the soldiers in harms way. They wereexcited to receive them! Our team has sent out several packages - both our own items as well as contributions from other players. I primarily use "Any Soldier, Inc." (www.anysoldier.com) for guidance but there are numerous groups. I would encourage you all to remember our heroes in the military, now more than ever, as they need our support. Cards and letters are also good - prayer is the best!
Thanks and have a good '05 !

Discussion: Softball Equipment for Our Troops

Just sent off a box for the soldiers in Iraq who are doing us a courageous job every day....glove, cleats, snacks, reading material, new balls, etc.
They love hearing from the States and it gives them encouragement. Suggest everyone look at "Anysoldier.com" to learn more about this kind of support - it's terrific.
God Bless our troops! -
