Discussion: Alan Gillespie

I am glad he is doing well. As a fellow coach, I have known Alan since he used to be a player on the old Murphy's Law team. Always have known him to be a gentleman and a tough out. Hope to see him back on the diamond.

Just wanted to wish my friend, Cal Allison a speedy recovery from his shoulder surgery. Most of you know Cal as an excellent SSUSA director and also a shortstop on a 70 Major team (Talon). Hope to see you soon at the ballpark...get well soon.

Discussion: SALT CITY CLASSIC 2013 CANCELED

ATTENTION TEAM MANAGERS,
THE SALT CITY CLASSIC SSUSA QUALIFIER IN JULY AT SYRACUSE, NY HAS BEEN CANCELED FOR 2013. IT IS STILL LISTED ON THE SSUSA TOURNAMENT LISTING AS SSUSA HAS NOT CHANGED IT YET. IT HAS BEEN CANCELED BECAUSE OF THE PERSON WHO RUNS HOPKINS RD COMPLEX HAS "DOUBLED" THE RENTAL FEE FOR THE USE OF THE 5 FIELDS FOR 2013. THEREFORE, I CANNOT EFFECTIVELY RUN THE TOURNEY IN 2013 BY TRYING TO ABSORB THIS KIND OF INCREASE IN MY BUDGET. I AM SORRY FOR THIS AS THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE 4TH YEAR OF RUNNING THE TOURNEY THAT AVERAGED 20 TEAMS ATTENDING THE TOURNEY EACH YEAR. I WANTED TO POST THIS ON THE MESSAGE BOARD SO THAT TEAMS CAN MAKE ALTERNATE PLANS FOR JULY KNOWING THAT THE SALT CITY CLASSIC WILL NOT BE A SCHEDULED STOP.

THANK YOU FOR ALL WHO HAVE ATTENDED THE TOURNEY IN THE PAST....

Discussion: CJS coach Barry Z.

I will pray for his speedy recovery. I have coached against Barry and your team a couple of times....once in the USA National Championship game in Phoenix a few years back.....he is a very classy manager and his team took after him in the sportsmanship they always showed on the field. I wish him well.

Discussion: The Passing of Steve Simmons

What a great loss to the softball community and to his family and friends. Steve was instrumental in getting me interested in senior softball and to become a SSUSA director in my state of New York. I will always miss the friendship we shared and many laughs we had at the ball field and the national conventions each year. I want to express my deepest condolences to Steve's family in their loss. I am truly saddened by the loss of a great friend.
