Discussion: Major plus problem

My answer is...

make it more enticing for major teams to move up by reducing the huge difference in talent from the couple/few dynasty groups of players that win multiple rings in one division...

hello...if you have guys walking around with three or four Champion rings in any one division/age group...there is one of your biggest problem.

********Make a rule that no more then SIX Major Plus champions can be on any individual roster till the join the next/older age group..ie...

You win Plus 50 Worlds no more six of those players can be on the same roster till they reach the 55 group...

One caveat...those players can stay together if they want to, but...they have to play in the next youngest Major Division.

I have a "liquid" farm....we produce around four tons of petite and Cab...also harvest around 5 tons of pears each year.
Pears go to the food bank..the wine?? Well let's just say it's enjoyed not donated.

Used for? HELLO.......ADVERTISING $$$$$$$

As for the teacher crying about income...now that's funny....

I am a guy that mows lawns/landscapes in an open boarder country and find it comincal a guy/teacher that gets three plus months off work/vacation/sick days/fed-state holidays/most likely health care and retirement income to start openly crying about pay.

You better get out of that faculty room and see what most of the rest of the country is getting for their labor before you open your neck about earnings.

And yes....I would eliminate the fed education department and openly allow all parents to put any gov education money's into charter schools if they want to.

Ok...I guess it's time to jump down off this soap box.

Discussion: Required Face Masks

Everyone knows that the bat/ball combos are to hit for any senior divisions.
unfortunaetly..nothing is going to change.
With that said...if your pitching without a helmet/face guard your putting your life at risk.
This might sound a little uncaring but...if a pitcher gets killed or seriously injured because of a shot to hit head while NOT wearing a helmet/face guard...it's his own damn fault...I will be sorry he died but...he did it to himself.
I also think a light chest protector should be warn.

Einstein is still "occupying" the SF softball leagues.

He's building such good teams that many of the top players are jumping over each other and bailing on their friends to get on his team.

He is pitching and shutting down the middle so well that even Swing has gone an record that we will not even try to hit it up the middle when Einstein is on the mound;-)

Discussion: 50 MAJOR & MAJOR PLUS COMBINED

Mario, we are blessed indeed.

In NorCal many years ago the older players got together and formed their own players association....NCSSA...

Once organized, they stood together and TOLD the tourney directors what they were looking for.

The organization has around 100 senior teams...they break every tourney up into six team/5 game brackets...

There is a ranking committee that breaks the teams into groups based on ability...

If by chance a team from one group plays another lower level group team in the tourney there are runs spotted and or an extra player...

We use the 1 up homerun rule to keep scores close.

If...there are some senior leagues in your area...you could get all the coaches together and attempt to do as NCSSA...

I am sure the NCSSA board of directors would be up for sharing just how they built such a successful program...they can be found at "NCSSA 2014" on the net.

Discussion: 50 MAJOR & MAJOR PLUS COMBINED

Mario, you'd have to break into three per team not four.

I also believe if my concept was emplemented there is a good chance two groups of six would find find six quality players to make TWO Plus teams....

Also....it is my belief if the plus champion was weakend each year more bumped Major teams would stick in Plus ball.

As far as sponsoring teams goes....I have no pity for the guys that will not pay for their own hobby....if you need to split an entry fee 13 ways it's peanuts...and....you'd be hard pressed to find more then a very few teams that pay for their players hotel/rental cars/air fare....

As for the tourney thing....in NorCal we are lucky...there are 25 back yard NCSSA/all world/NSA/Ssusa events we can play in. We even have a ton of over 40 events to play in..

Discussion: 50 MAJOR & MAJOR PLUS COMBINED

So Mario.....the question to ponder is...

If the powerhouse players that seem to most of the time be playing on Sunday at Plus worlds/events were limited to a certain amount of players per team per team...would more Major teams move up?

My answer is........YES

IF MORE MAJOR TEAMS MOVED UP????

Would there be more spots available to players (like yourself) to be on Plus rosters?

AGAIN....my answer would be......YES

Discussion: 50 MAJOR & MAJOR PLUS COMBINED

Mario, sorry to read a player with your prowess has no options for a Plus team.

It kinda ends the notion some on this site has have written about Plus doing fine/just leave us alone.

My view has kinda evolved on breaking up Plus champions...at this time I would first try to allow the keep Plus Championship teams together EXCEPT..at Worlds they would have to play in the next youngest age groups Major division for the next two seasons...

If...the champion team wanted to build a team to play in the Plus division they were champion in...they, along with every other Plus team, would have to fit under the roster restrictions of no more then 6 "in age group" plus champion players.

I am with swing...NEVER COMBINE major and Plus...amost all the Plus guys have been saying...

"leave us alone...we just want to play against the best...our Plus program is doing just great.... And....WHATEVER YOU DO!!! DONT TRY TO RESTRICT THE POWER HOUSE PLUS TEAMS THAT ARE KEEPING THE MAJOR TEAMS FROM WANTING TO MOVE UP".

Discussion: So the question was....how to get more teams to play Major Plus

Last years dbo rule change was a great addition to senior ball.

The dbo rule adds strategy both on offense and defense and brings more a more competitive balance into the game. You cannot just get ten meats and pound ball after ball over the tense.

Discussion: So the question was....how to get more teams to play Major Plus

Dave, I think allowing three upper ranked players is fine....

How about the teams that choose to have upper level players have to spot other teams two runs for every upper level player?

As examples....

team A has 3 higher ranked rosters players, team B has 1 higher ranked rostered player... Team B gets 4 runs.

Team A has 3 higher ranked rosteredplayers, team B has zero higher ranked rostered players....team B gets six runs.

That way..a team has to register how many higher ranked rostered players they will be able to have for that season.

Then all SSUSA has to do is add the teams roster limits total to their roster so everyone knows how many higher ranked players they have decided to be able to carry and what their run spotting number if.

Discussion: looking for a softball clinic out here in the west...and ideas where and when?

Mike, I am starting a Sports Academy in Concord ca starting next Tuesday.

I taught softball and baseball hitting for over 20 years, and since my wife is kinda getting tired of me sitting at home almost every night she has given me a hall pass to once again teach hitting and softball pitching...

If that's something you would be interested in?

I can be reached at tmservices@pacbell.net

I have worked with 100s of players over the years.....some of them even became USSSA Major list players...

Discussion: So the question was....how to get more teams to play Major Plus

Cal 50, actually my main thing is not forcing many just above average Major teams into Plus ball.
As far as breaking up Plus champions goes...if I was in charge Plus champions could stay together BUT..when they go to Worlds they qualify for the next lowest age groups Major program...that way they still can play with all their friends and don't have to disband.

Discussion: So the question was....how to get more teams to play Major Plus

In a thread below I gave an idea that "might" make Plus a little more enticing for bumped Major teams.

Voicing that concept has brought five emails to me from different plus players; and numerous other posts on that thread saying how wrong minded my idea was.

So, with that said..

How about some of you brainstorming with ideas to answer that original question.

If SSUSA wanted to get more teams into the Plus division how should they do it?

Discussion: How to get more teams willing to play in the Major-plus division

Rich, yes our 55 team should be fun to play with but...with the varsity MTC 55 team, Arizona Elite and others in 55s next year our MTC Jayvee team will have to play out of our minds to win worlds.

It's really nice for a change to read all the Plus guys saying Plus is great..leave us alone.

It just seems like yesterday many Plus players were crying for more Major teams to get bumped or merged to beat up on.

As for our team...we have not cut a player in years (only 1 guy left in the last three seasons)

Unlike many other Plus teams..we do NOT cut friends to try to give us a bettsr chance to win what I see as a meaningless "ring".

If...the rules were to only return six plus champions till we reach the next age group I'd be fine with it..we could still stay together and just find different teams for the couple/few SSUSA events we play.

Heck...maybe SSUSA would allow returning plus champions with more then six players to play in the next youngest age groups Major division...maybe we'd do that????

Bob, it's very interesting that I tried to address most of the points you tried to make and share with you your wrong assumptions about our team and myself.

It's disapointing you were unable to understand that I was addressing the "issues" you posted.

It you have paid any attention to when I post about restricting plus champions to a certain number or champion players you should know...I only do it after some plus guy talks about trying to force even more weaker major teams to the plus level...

It is my belief only Major world champion teams should get bumped to Plus...if all the Plus guys just want to play the "best" why do many of them continue to call for getting more weaker major teams into their games?

With that said...Bob, do you think like I do that only the Major world champion should be bumped to Plus...or do you want weaker major teams bumped also?
