Discussion: Is a 55 team playing in a 50 world considered reclassed

Our 55 plus team is also going to play 50 majors.

Is this considered being reclassified?

I don't think it is because according to ssusa the two divisions we are playing in hold the same ranking.

Are my views correct..or does mule whipper have it right?

Our 2014 team is now ranked 50 major?

55 Major Plus equals 50 Major or equals 40 AAA, This is not a reclass.

Tim ...

• Your teams has NOT been reclassified ... You remain a 55-Major+ team and are simply "playing down" one age group;
• If applicable, you will have to shed any "out of region" players from the 55-Major+ roster, since the Major Division is limited by rule to states and bordering-states (and legitimate snowbird) roster players;
• Your statement about identical rating index values is correct; and
• Your team is not ranked "50-anything", just competing in the 50-Major division as a 55-Major+ team, under Major rules ...

FYI, Pope Transport (WI) 60-Major+ played 55-Major in multiple tournaments all year, but has entered the World Masters Championships as a 60-Major+ ... Your team is simply doing the converse ... Good luck!

Timmy...call it what you want, it makes no difference to me.

I was only going on what you had posted...your words not mine.

"SSUSA how can we get reclassed? MTC 50 2014 major Plus
I heard tonight that the Warriors 2014 team was reclassed down to 50 major and I was wondering how our MTC 50 Plus team that didn't win a game in two consecutive years of major plus Double elim brackets at Plus worlds can get reclassed to 50 majors also.
The Warriors faired better then us at last years world and placed higher then we ever did at 50 Plus World and rock and roll Reno.
How do we get reclassed down? Who does our 2014 MTC Plus team contact?

For your team to play in 55 and 50 World Touranments, does your team have to play in 55 and 50 world qualifier?

Nope ... SSUSA has them as a 55-Major+ ball club (Rating index = 8) based on their roster composition and event history with us, and that's the same R/I as for a 50-Major ... As mentioned above, if they elect to play down, they have to play by Major rules, which prohibits "out of region" players, if they have any ... Other than that, we deem them to be competitively equivalent to a 50-Major team and they are good to go in both age groups ...

Does the same thing apply for an individual player? Or must he qualify with both Teams?

Ron, I was only replying to your post on a thread that had not been seen at the top of this site for over two months.

I figured if it was valuable enough for you to search through pages of the message board to be able to reply to...It had to make a difference to you;-)

Tim, Rennelds and Kurdy can't be on your team I understand... is this the reason for your original question?

The MTC 50 team was not reclassified nor did they ever even ask or apply to SSUSA to be reclassed. The MTC 55 team which is ranked 55 Major Plus decided to play down in 50 Majors, that roster can not include any players under the age of 55 nor can they have players out of regional boundaries of any other major team. Swing you are correct those 2 players are 50 and will be playing in 50 Major Plus. I hope this helps clarify your concerns on this matter.

Thank you

For the sake of Argument..Can a 50 major + play 40 Majors?

Or does every team have to enter the division based on their team rating?

Hey Leelee.. Timmy was asking for your team to get re-classed the minute he heard our Warrior team got re-classed.. It's no biggy,,, I was just curious where Tim was going with all of this and if your team was reclassed Kurdy and Rennelds would be able to play with you guys again, if you were playing down a division you can't pick them up.. anyway good luck to you guys in both 55 plus and 50 major..

Richie, Actually I was wondering when teams get reclassed why didn't ssusa also reclass all the other teams that did worse at the same world and big national events?

But yes...I believe if a team like the Warriors that finished higher then us at world gets reclassed then we should have.

You have to understand at the time you guys got dropped to 50 Major that our 55 year old team was being told by that same office that reclassed you guys that we would not be automatically allowed to play 50 majors with our 55 team.

That seemed strange...a 50 team that finished higher then is at last years worlds got dropped but our 55 team had to wait till after 55 Nationals to be evaluated?

That was the issue I was having with the whole thing. I thought acording to the ssusa matrix a 55 major plus and a 50 major carry the same ranking???

To throw another wrench in the discussion....what happens if the MTC Fives wins the 55major+ which takes place before the 50 Major? What will SSUSA do then?

We make rating adjustments after the World Masters ends, so they will play in the 50-Major bracket the following weekend as contemplated ... (Unless, of course, Tim takes his own suggested course of action and blows up his 55-M+ team in the four days between sessions so they can't become a dynasty! Major scheduling headache, for sure ... Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Considering we could make the finals of the 50 majors when we were all in our early 50s I doubt very much playing as a team that averages 57 years old that we will win 50s..
As far as winning the 55 Plus program...again...I would support Our team only being allowed to return with six players till we reach the next age group as long as all dominate plus teams were held to the same standard.
