| Jan. 2, 2011 pitcher55 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Health Issues gacman,i'm 57,in 2005,i had a total hip replacement.i lost alittle on my speed,but since have stayed busy with lots of leagues and tourney's with the kid's.it's working well for me,as long as i get an injection in the other hip every two months.i was unable to get the injection for the vegas tourney so i didn't run to well there.normally,i think i'm a little faster than average.i do not intend to stop playing any time soon.have you tried the injections in the joint? if the pain is in the front,next to the groin,the injection should go there.if pain is in the backside,that's where the needle goes-in the joint.it will greatly reduce your pain,so you can run faster.a docter who does those surgeries,can give the shots.they don't hurt much, it's well worth it and you can push that surgery down the road 2 or 3 years.also,when you have the surgery,you may feel like that leg is longer than the other.it's not,but the joint could be higher than your natural one.mine was.my chiropracter was familiar with this problem and xrayed me standing up.17 milimeters higher.he sold me a 8 milimeter heel lift for inside my other shoe and bingo,i didn't limp any more.if it's that far gone that injections won't work,get the surgery and you can still play.again,the injections work very well.good luck.GOD BLESS, DENNIS |
