Sept. 14 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA Wanted to take a moment to thank each and every team in the 17 team AA 50's bracket for some tough competition in Seattle. We had some memorable games with Second Wind, Sean Montell, X Men and R & R Pump. It was pretty special to finish 2nd from a 15 seed and most of us left it all on the field in the "if" game between R & R Pump and Utah Vets. Let me congratulate the champs, thank all my peers for playing hard against me and thank the Good Lord for allowing us to get through 11 games safely. If I offended any brothers on the field in the passion of competition, I hope you will forgive me. I play hard with intensity and I try to play the game fairly. You guys hit hard, played hard and made it worthwhile. Perhaps in the future, SSUSA will make the awards a tad bit better for us who go that far into the brackets. All you guys were awesome!! Sept. 14 Stones 1B Men's 55 52 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA Surf88... great run there is Seattle... Curious??? What were the Awards for this Tourney? Sounds like you had fun, Big Ups to you and your Team. |
Sept. 14 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA 2nd place got embroidered bat towels and a softball labeled SSUSA World Championship Finalist. Thanks, E |
Sept. 14 Michigan Vet Men's 65 255 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA Last year for finishing second we got Red Tanel hats embroidered with the SSUSA logo . We also got the large softball (we gave this to our team MVP), and all tourny player s got a patch. With the high entry fees and $35 card fee you would think the awards would be better!! |
Sept. 14 BillyMac Men's 55 91 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA In my opinion, the awards at this tournament were a disgrace. The towels and balls for the individuals were pretty sad, but the sponsor's plaque for second place at a world championship tourney was miniscule, as was the plaque for second in the nationals (both the same size). Individual award for second in National was a hat with "national finalist" on it. JMO peace H2W!!!! B Mac Bay State Bombers (55AAA) |
Sept. 14 huff17 13 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA Thanks to the Utah Vets for a memorable 3 games, I thought you had us for sure. You guys are class acts, as were all the teams. It was as much fun as I have ever had. John Huffman 1st Base R & R Pumping |

Sept. 14 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA Huff, I thought for a minute there we might have had you but alas you guys pulled it off and you are a darn good bunch of ball players. I hope your pitcher heals up ok. I think Billy Mac might have something there. It seems like traveling a long ways, playing many tough ball games, you'd think they might give out a more impressive token to each ball player, especially in the championship game. Ed |
Sept. 14 webfoot 1 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA It must be catchy. I played with Yeagers 60's in the USSSA Worlds in Salem, OR. last month. We took first and our award was a gold medal. And........ the opportunity to buy myself a ring. Actually I am looking for a supplier to have some hats and shirts made up for the team. I don't wear rings and I am certainly not going to wear a medal. Congrats to the 50 AA champs R&R. Tom (No Fence Too Far) |
Sept. 15 Hap 1 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA I agree that the prize packages could be better. We won the AA western nationals and by default the nationals because the Midwest Geezers could not make the trip to Seattle. We recieved only the two trophies and the chance to buy a very expensive ring. We are using the National trophy logo to design and buy jackets so at least everyone has some sort of a personal momento of their accomplishment. A hat, jacket, patch, or anything would have been nice. My congratulations to R&R and the Vets, you sure bounced us right out of the Worlds but thats why we all play and love this game......... I am certainly not used to being done by Saturday afternoon................ Jeff R. (Second Wind) |
Sept. 15 RV22 Men's 60 3 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA To The Utah Vets who gave us 3 great games and all the other teams in the 50's AA division " GREAT TOURNAMENT!! "It is to bad we had to settle for such token awards. Hopefully someone will look to improve the prize package. Out of the generousity of our sponsor we are looking at some nice jackets with logos with " WORLD CHAMPIONS " You all made these hard earned, Thanks again for a great 4 days. SS for R & R. |
Sept. 20 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Reflections on Seattle 50 Men AA To the shortstop of R & R, let me say that you are an awesome ball player. I enjoyed playing against you and stopped some of your shots to the right side but you clearly made a difference in the tournament and in the final. There are some games I remember and many I don't but I will remember the games we played against you guys. Congratulations! I agree that the finalists should have been awarded with something more than what was awarded. Glad you got jackets from your sponsor. Be well, Ed 1st baseman Vets |
