July 10 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | In Rules Page 46 8.4(8) D 8.4(8) • WHEN RUNNERS CAN ADVANCE AT THEIR RISK Runners are entitled to advance with liability to be put out: A. When a pitched ball is batted. B. On a thrown ball or a fair batted ball that is not blocked. C On a thrown ball that hits an umpire. D. When a legally caught ball is first touched. Does this mean if fielder fumbles ball befor controlling ball (not ever touching ground) can the Runner leave base and advance legally befor actual catch happens? Also is SSUSA "Hit and Sit" ?? Or does batter have to touch 1st on a ball over fence. Thanks, C |

If your on first base tagging up on a fly ball you may advance once the outfielder touches the fly ball--he doesn't have to secure the catch before you can advance The answer to your second question is depending on where you play. Some places have you touch a base, some hit and sit. |

July 10 TimMcElroy 947 posts | In SSUSA play, the batter and any runners on base at the time must touch the next base. An out is recorded if the runner fails to touch the next base. |
