June 2 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | My friend and teammate has been told he needs a hip replacement. We play with young bucks in the mountains and he has been a skier for decades and a really solid pitcher. If you have experienced this procedure and would be willing to share info and/or advice, please chime in here. He is getting cortisone shots and trying to figure out what and when to do something. Thanks very much, EA |
June 2 lb16 Men's 60 199 posts | Had both of mine done in 2009. Was the best decision I could have made. Tell you're friend he will be glad he had it done once he does. Tell him to check on hip resurfacing as well it is a more complicated procedure but you retain more of your natural bone. Not all hip replacement surgeons do this procedure make sure he ask's his doctor if he does this procedure if not ask him to refer him to one that does. I wouldn't be back playing now if I didn't have it done. Also tell him to make sure he keeps up with PT after procedure. I took a year off to get completely healed I would advise the same for anyone getting hip replacement. |
June 2 softball4b Men's 70 1250 posts | Total left hip replacement 2007. Playing ball 90 days later. Never a problem except 10 years later Total right knee replacement, probably because I favored it a little. Who knows always been a lard butt so something has to give. He can always get in touch with me. softball4b@aol.com Mike Adair Southwest Bandits 60 Over The Edge 65 |

June 10 Benji4 Men's 55 289 posts | I have spoke to two very prominent orthopedic surgeons in both Arizona and California that told me there is no such thing as true stem cell in the United States. There is in Europe, but in the US you would be wasting your money. PRP treatment is prevalent in the United States now, but only works on certain types of ailments. |
June 10 Hit the gap Men's 70 154 posts | I had hip replacement done in 2013 and I wish I had not waited so long to do it. I had it done robotically by Dr. Jimmie Chow in Phoenix AZ. No pain afterward. Walking without a walker in 2 days. Walking pain free thereafter. I really recommend this Dr. |
