Great choice to remove those threads
Way to go, SSUSA.
Enough is enough.

Kudos SSSUA and thank you.

Will the offender(s) be notified, reviewed, and monitored in an effort to control future content?

Again, thank you for your vigilance and efforts.

I guess that I missed the threads that caused the SSUSA staff to delete the messages. Knowing the staff as I do, I'm certain that they felt they had good reason to do so. Folks, this is sad for all of us. Not that they censored the board but that we ALL put them in the position to feel that needed to do it.
I know that I had a role in the process and., quite frankly, this bothers me. We're grown men... or we should be at this point in our lives.
I know that the staff doesn't wish to re-hash this issue so if anyone else would be so kind as to enlighen me, I'd really appreciate it.

I think that I may have been the last to post on one of those threads suggesting that the thread be deleted as it violated Rule #2. I went back shortly after to see any responses and it was gone. Good riddance.

It was a personal attack on a board member. You can like or dislike someone but keep your personnel hatred of all boards.

Hey Pete I have to disagree with you because I would hate to see anyone try to control or censor Einstein. He may be a little enthusiastic/passionate about his ideas but he does bring up some great topics for discussion. (I’m assuming the board removed the thread because of Einstein and others repeated verbal attacks and threats toward Gary19). I quite enjoy Einstein’s passionate posts. I know he does resort to name calling occasionally but again just part of his enthusiasm. I can’t speak for Gary19 but he seems to take the insults and repeated threats levied at him pretty well with intelligent, witty replies.

When I joined this site it was to get away from all those sites with ego's bigger and better than they will ever be out on the field... Yes all of us have ego's here but at our age you would think its time to put them away and share thoughts and idea's here on making Senior Softball a better place on and off the field. It is a shame when SSUSA has to step in and clean us up, what next sending it first to them for censorship?? I missed what caused this but Come on guys let everyone speak there mind, we all have different views and opinions guys like Stoneman & the Wood share theres and seem to be open to other idea's while others take a differnt idea as a slander on them! LEAVE PERSONALITIE'S OUT OF IT!Ignore and indiferrence is the best way to respond..just my opinion...

jolly52- Be happy you missed what caused the deleted threads. We all (myself included) got more than a little bit carried away. Ssusa did the right thing in this one, and it's the only time I remember any kind of censored messages that weren't ads forother associations or commercial ads. Your suggestions and comments are right on. I apologize for my own part in it.

BigLou - I agree with you 100% freedom of expression is something we should all embrace and enjoy and I also enjoy Einstein's passion and fire for the game and issues/concerns surrounding our past time. That being said there are times when all of us need to use some restraint when deciding how to post our thoughts on the board. Some are diplomatic and some more direct. I, for example, tend to be more on the diplomatic side in writing but very direct in person and there is no right or wrong as long as the agenda expressed is food for thought. That being said their are some that post ideas and thoughts with no other purpose than to instigate and incite so they can use the replying posts to further either draw attention to their own persona or stir the pot just for the sake of causing problems. We all know someone like that in person and most will not stay around them except as the commitments of society demands.
Most posting boards have thread monitors their to remove offensive people/posts fairly quickly. The SSSUA does not do that so it is up to us to police ourselves. Unforunately one of the threads that got removed had some very good points to it but we lost it due to one clown just starting/prolonging the adgenda of trouble.

One final thought. If I had posted the remark that I believe caused the removal of the thread I would expect reprisals both from SSSUA and people to take it up with me in person. It was way beyond tasteless and crude and pretty much an issue of fighting words as I saw it. If I'd have issued it I would be expecting the trouble that should be coming my way. It was way over the line of decency.

Damn. Here we go again. Everyone please take a deep breath and decide if you want another thread to go away. It will if we don't exercise so self restraint. And that meand EVERYONE

You know Gary 19 - I could state the obvious to tell you what all the other board members already know. But since you've chosen to identify yourself there really is no need. To say that I do not agree with your tactics on this board would be a vast understatement. You make some very good points then tend to ruin everything with your self serving taunting antics designed to elicit a response for you to respond to.
Are we a closed minded, small minded society as you have deemed - possibly but the really geat thinkers of our or any other generation never had to attempt to point out everyone else as small minded they simply profferred their own relevent ideas, theories to the subject at hand for others to take note and give merit to. Not to engrandise themselves.
I personally probably would not care for you if I were to know you and will simply classify you as I wish.

Clown (kloun) n. the fool or buffoon in a play or circus: a peasant or rustic; an ill-bred man; a boor; v.i. to play the fool; to behave like a fool.

Do we all act this way from time to time - yup. But some have more natural talent at it than others.

I'm glad to say I count many people that do not agree with you on this board as personal friends.

I'm also glad to say you are not on that list.

So Gary19 - that is my opinion. I don't need to rally anyone else or incite anyone else to make my opinion known.

If you're not comfortable with that - there will be no apology.

Didn't we just go through this on the deleted thread.

Can we stop acting like too spoiled kids each one having to get in the last word.

Enough already

Please stop it, Children. Yesterday was a low-water day on this Board. Infantile behavior forced the ssusa to censor this place for the first time I can remember. Gary, you seem to want to have the last word on everything, so please either ignore this post, so you can have the last one, or maybe post a one word message and we'll all stop so you can have the last word. Please please please. Gawd, what a waste of time

Wrong Gary. I'm not calling anyone in particular out. You've made your point on being called a clown. Several timres in fact. Let it go, man. Post one more message in this thread. Make it something like: "I win! I got the last word" and we can be done with this. At this rate, I have no confidence that THIS thread will be here in the morning, either. And I wouldn't blame them at all. Enough is enough. And for the record, you're not a clown in my opinion. Clowns are funny.

Pete, you're the best.

Gary, I apologize for thinking you were an anonymous clown.
I was wrong about that.
But you sir are an annoying disturbance on this board,
most of the time.
You essentially hi-jack the board to have to deal with you
saying "NO" in one form or another, how much you don't like or respect
the most of us, and start arguments when/where none really exist.
I'm sorry but the way you customarily behave on this site
is sufficiently negative to warrant your censure.
Look at the circus, a la Mango's reply,
that occurs with you in the center ring around almost every argument you make.
And I for one sir, am no clown.

You need to stop, or learn how to be more appropriate
or be censured by this board
in order for it to continue to be a viable,
important web site that's trying to help us all.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with saying anything you want
any time you want.
There are fundamental values that undergird and need to undergird
all human interactions.

Lastly,
SSUSA needs to add
one more rule to the 4 that are stated and it should go something like this:
"We reserve the right to censure or remove any thread or contributor
at any time without explanation
as and if we determine it to be in the best interest of our community and/or
or website."
And this would take care of all this kind of malarky in the future
Right A.C.?

Gary,
That was no threat. You come on here and have alot to say yet you don't even know the people that you try to offend. I'll be in Cleveland soon why don't you come out to the field and meet me, even if you don't want to pitch BP. Einstein pitched to me and he's no wose for wear. You see almost all of the people on this board actually interact in person at some point during the year and share some pretty great times together. You on the other hand choose to be a internet tough guy. I don't agree with everything that people on this board say , but even people I may not agree with are great people and I have shared some good times with them and consider them friends.

No worse for wear?
Says you.
I thought I could hit the ball with anyone
until you started warming up, Kevin.
I was depressed for a week.
Actually, I'm shifting to your grip which is giving me
more whip, speed, length and distance.
Now if I could only transfer that to the bedroom...
Take care Kevin.
Will you be in Wisconsin or Minnesota in August?

Joe,
The next one will be Elgin Il. I will drive back to Cleveland and Mike and I will go on to Il from there. Maybe Gary 19 will take me up on my offer and come out and actually meet us?
