Cya there again Curt.

For those of you that want a jump start to kick off the 2008 season this is the way to do it.

Especially those of us that are going on to the TOC. It's a great way to get all your work in after the winter layoff and get ready.

Hope to see many of you there.

Pete

The ONLY trophy that made it off Curt's wreck on the interstate is in my possession. (singles hitting) I will attempt to defend it in Feb. David

So you guys believed that story about the trophies blowing out of the back of his truck onto the interstate and being run over by the semi? Haha. I was by his house yesterday and all of the trophies were there with inscriptions like MVP - Curt Hollis - ClassicSpring Training. Overall Home Run Champion - Curt Hollis. Best Defesive Player - Curt Hollis. Highest Average CST Curt Hollis.

Now, that could be the true story of what happened to the trophies!

Stoneman,
It's great to see that you are going to make it. I hit with Don Norquist last night and he was excited that you are coming. I haven't heard from the other half of the Blue's Brother. Hmmm....since he got a job he won't return my calls. But, I know he reads this board and I should see him this weekend.
take care,

Just talked to Curt this past weekend and he is planning a great event to include some very competitive games between the young and old guys!

Come on out and join us it will not only be lots of fun but you will get plenty of swings and practice in. It will help you get ready for the TOC the following weekend as well.

Take vacation or whatever you can do to spend the week between spring training and the TOC with us.

How far is the classic spring training site from Lakeland? This looks like it would be a great time. I might try to get my airline tickets adjusted to make it. Hey Audie, I see that your going...take it easy on me if I end up going, OK? Mike Boatright - Doubleplay

Mike, I believe it is the other way around. You guys take it easy on us. At least let us look good on our home turf! Jacksonville is a good 2.5 hour drive up I-4 to !-95 to J-ville.

If it were me. I'd fly into Orlando where flights are frequent and cheaper. Rent a car and head north to J-ville about 1.75 hours away. Then after the CST back down thru Orlando to Lakeland which is about 1 hour or less southwest of the Orlando airport.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Greetings from India! I bet I'll hold the record for the furthest post to this board. ( 8

With regards to flying into Orlando. I did that last year and rented a car in Kissimee. As I recall even after the taxi to and from the rental place I still cut the rental cost in half from what they had at the airport. That might be something to look in to.

Some of the other guys flew in to Atlanta and said that it worked well for them.

Yeah - no ordering a hamburger here that's for sure. I'm not sure on the distance since no airlines fly over China (which looks to be quicker) we went the other way. First to Frankfurt, then to Qatar and on to Chennai, India from there with two 12+ hour layovers thrown in.

Pete, I'm told that the native folk of India eat with the right hand and wipe themselves with the left hand. If they call you 'Lefty' it is not intended as a compliment.

That may be so but these people move so fast. It's unbelievable the pace they are under. From talking to our driver/guide he indicated that people out of the cities have a life expectancy well into their 70's but in the larger cities heart attacks around 40 are really common. I've been to a few countries and I've never seen a pace like this, almost frantic - and not a ball field in sight. We came here on personal business and will probably leave earlier than planned. There isn't much to enjoy here.

Pete, are all of the motels run by Smiths similar to all of them here in the US being run by Patels?

Also, have you sent in your reservations for the Hawaii trip?

Audie - I'm not sure who own's the hotel we're in. You're correct on the name thing it seems to indicate area of origin, social standing, and vocation. A lot of the Doctors and upper level medical have the surname of Reddy or are related in some fashion. Almost clannish like the Smiths, Bakers, Masons, Thatchers, Weavers, etc. that we'd be familiar with from our ancestery. They've kept the tradition alive up to the present.

My family name is Scottish (Graham) so we were walking around clubing things and each other way back when so picking up a bat is probably only a natural extension of that........not sure what they did for a living just seems like those guys fueded a lot.

I'll get Hawaii handled upon our return.
