I remember about 4 years ago when the Worth Super Dupers were marked Minimum cor and comp. Were there any other balls that were marked Minimum?
As for balls being marked Max, I have three here marked that way; A Worth Gold Dot Syco Max 375lbs Max 44 cor ISA approved, a Dudley Thunder Advance Multi Layer Technology Max 375 lbs Max .44 cor ASA approved and a Dudley Thunder Heat Max. 375 lbs Max. 44 COR ISA approved.
I also have some Worth Titans 50 cor and a Dudley Thunder Blue 52 cor ball with neither Max or Minimum. Anyone know when they were produced?
I don't know what we will be using in our senior fall league.

The old super dupers were a non association ball, they have been marking them like that since 93 when they came out.

If you follow this link you will see what we get from the associations, we just do as they say.......

The old .52's were made back in 83 and used through 84. They were banned after that.

Aren't the Evil balls a .52?
I've seen them used in mom & pop tourneys but never looked at their markings.
As for super dupers, Awesome balls even with metal bats. We did have a city league that used them. Also allowed teams to bring in their own new ball to use in stead.

We make a .53/600 comp home run derby ball that has no association stamps.

I thought they had a .53 but forgot the comp#
I still have a few supers some place from the old days.
Those and some Dudley sb12 lnd's Corkers.
From a business point I understand what's going on, just hope the snake doesn't squeeze the life out of our pleasure as it were.

Joe must have you believing that I make the rules for softball. I don't, the associations are responsible for the rules and spec's of equipment.

Form a business point you surely don't understand. We make what the associations tell us to make. They trademark the stamps and publish the spec's we pay a royalty to use the mark to the said association. Look at the link 4 post's above this one. Copy and paste it and you can see for yourself what the truth is, than maybe you won't believe eveything that is said here.

Primarily assn stamp color refers to cor comp. on that page for ASA.
In the past their also used to be seam colors associated to assn's.
But heard that changed.
I personally don't care about colors, but rather quality products that are fairly priced, that last.
I do understand that your out to sell goods, you have imo, Many, very good products in your stable, But also a few nags. Perhaps loss leaders. Or end cap placement with color arrangements all over. Your not the alone there either.
As the Anaconda wraps around its prey.
I have nothing to gain here ....

Scott, I take it that you believe that companies such as Direct Sports, Softball Sales, Anaconda Sports, etc. make substantially more money if they sell ball 'B' in lieu of ball 'A'. I've thought this through to some degree and it seems to me that their best financial posture would be one whereby they sold larger volumes of balls. As an example, the livelier the ball, the greater the chance it will get lost... the greater the need to replace the lost ones, hence more sales.
Conversely, an environment that reduces the number of lost balls would reduce the gross number sold.
No, this isn't the only factor worthy of consideration... but gross sales is usually an important element.
Still, if I were in Trumpball's position, or any other mass purveyor of softballs, I would be interested in delivering the very product that the customer requested... no more, no less.
Somehow we have become suspicious of the balls used in tournaments but we seem to ignore the impact that the weather plays on ball performance.
I have purchased 15 dozen or so (over the past 2-3 years) of the SSUSA signature ball (Trump Stote 44/375)and have used them in BP almost primarily. They travel quite a ways in cooler temps but less in warmer conditions.
We used them in Phoenix last October (60 M+)... very few HRs hit after 11am... but the balls flew pretty well in the early games. bear in mind, it was 95-100 degrees at the time.
I can also state with total certainty that I used to buy either USSSA Elite or USSSA Distance balls... they do not have the cor/compression numbers on them. But folks that know these softballs will tell you that the Elite is a 44/400 (or so) and the Distance is a 47/500 (+ -). Clearly, the Distance performed better than the Elite, regardless of the circumstances that we encountered. Further, it made a big difference whether they were made by Dudley or by Worth, even though each ball had the Elite or Distance stamp on them.
We'll use the Trump Stote in Sacramento this weekend and I seriously doubt that will perform as well as they did in Reno in early June (altitude and weather).

I don't care what ball we use. If there are not any HRs, the tourney suffers and revenue drops thus creating change. IE Manassas

I hit HRs and would rather it was an event as opposed to an occurrence. I realize it is nice to be able to go long ball, but it is too easy nowadays.

(Generic Stmt) A 5'8", 180 lbs singles hitter being able to go yard is just wrong. Does not mean he is not a great player and some can go yard legitimately, but really it should be the exception not the rule.

Manufacturers and customers with some exceptions are autonomous. Sure there is input, but I can say with a certain amount of confidence the associations are not participating in the R&D cost of the manufacturers. Thus, I am sure the conversation is more like, we need a ball that will go X feet, if you produce it we will buy X amount. The driving force is the associations.

I do not believe it is productive to bust the manufacturers’ chops if they are just supplying what the consumer requests. The players would be considered 3rd party users and their complaints are best directed to the associations with their ultimate act of protest be their failure to participate. Kevin is not a demigod and should be removed from the crosshairs.

Bottom line: Things I can affect - I will play with the best legal equipment available (bats), play tourneys I want and deal with the rest.

BW,
I agree on the gross sales and most of the rest.
Weather temp is a large factor for performance.
One thing is that both teams are using the same ball usually under same conditions. As for balls ONLY , that's level.

SB4,
Teams can win w\wo Hr's, but it's "nice\better" in my book if they happen\allowed. Kevin isn't in the scope, just happen to be the one posting. If it were any other Co doing like wise I'd no doubt reply likewise.
2nd to last line, What rest? or should that be best.
Last line, I disagree. So there we can agree to disagree.
I've purchased items from all the co's mentioned & more, & will no doubt again sometime.

Bruce, I have learned that here in OKC, our Senior League (ages 43+) is going to a Worth USSSA 40 COR, 400 lbs. ball for our Fall League. I have a couple dozen of these balls and you have to kill them to hit them out. I'm already working on my "dink" game! My best BP shot was a one-hopper to the 300' fence. We've also got a "young" (55ish) guy with good pop and he has not yet hit one out in BP either.

DoubleL those are .40/325 comp. They are definatly no fun to play with in the heat.
