Nov. 25 kbl Men's 60 544 posts | has anyone attended or thinking of attending spring training in Altamonte springs, florida? or is there another. please let me know your thoughts. thanks, ken |
Nov. 25 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I've signed up for Classic Spring Training, Feb 18-21 in Jacksonville and the Softball Magazine Spring Training, first session, March 17-21 in Cocoa Beach. CST is hosted by Curt Hollis, a frequent poster here. The cost of his event is $105 and includes all the fun you can stand in 3 days. It also includes a banquet on Saturday night. I have attended this one for the past 8 years. It has a reputation of being very informal. The Softball Mag Spring Training is somewhat more pricy, $285. They will have two sessions and I will be attending the first session. This will be my first year attending this one. Their reputation is that it is more structured than CST. CST has all ages attending with seniors accounting for roughly 20% of the attendees. You can find more info at classicspringtraining.com and softballmag.com |

Nov. 25 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | KBL the CST is very good one to attend,i've been to the last 4 and i think its worth it.plus it is early enough not to interfere with the start of my leagues and tourney sched's. |
Nov. 25 Mr. Manassas 244 posts | Dog, I don't really know so I am asking....Is the spring training idea in Fla. really useful? I am from Va. and the winters here are not too good so any excuse I could use with my wife to go to Fal. is OK with me. |
Nov. 25 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | Mr Manassas, only if you want over 200 swings of bp,and some pointers from some major type hitters, fielders, pitchers. the camp is from fri-sun,but a lot of us get there early thur, to be able to hit thur nite for a couple of hrs. its not that far of a drive for you from va,i drive over from texas myself. |
Nov. 30 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Dear KBL, I have attended Classic Spring Training last year and in years past. Curt Hollis truly cares about this camp and his entire staff does all that can be done to help young and older players to get better prepared for the season. In addition, it is a opportunity to see old friends on the field in a comfortable setting as you knock off the winter rust. Check it out and give it a try. I'll be back. Ed Andrews Colorado |

Nov. 30 J R 251 posts | kbl I went to the one in Altimonte Springs. What a joke. The new guys are put on a team for 1st time players. Most of the players are form teams from cold weather states. What they do not tell you is about legacy players. So if a player is over 50 they can bring their sons. So i played against 30 year old players. They did not tell me no Ultra's. So when i got there i had nothing to hit with. I went home after 2nd day. I purchased a bat locally. It is all about someone making money. There was no trainning. Teams playing in tournament is what it was.Save your money. |
