| Dec. 17 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | r yes in ways it can,some sponsers will buy players to make thier team,non sponsered team no way can compete with that.i think thats why we should have a sponsered div for the ego maniacs that want to blast the ball and such. #6 you can be right about that,get a sponsered team on the run and they'll quit half the time and/or get all over each other,figuring its not thier money they are spending. |

So my answer is no. If you are recruiting players then the answer is yes. Some players are very good players but they could not because of financial reasons be able to play without the help. The ones that need the financial help God bless them and I'm happy they get to play. The ones that think they are too good to pay no comment. |
| Dec. 18 LP 317 posts | r having a sponsor can make it easier on a manager to run the team. it does help out a player that might have money woes, but you also have the players that think they are gods gift to this game an wont ever chip in to help with money, those are the ones that think they are gods gift to the game |
| Dec. 18 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | r There is a third kind of sponsor and I think the majority of all sponsors—buys shirts, caps, maybe a little more uniform; provides a quality bat or two; provides some snacks after games; maybe hosts a season's end party. Doesn't help with travel, motels, fees, etc. Those kind of sponsors don't do much for recruiting financially needy players, but do help quickly build team cohesion and are fun to play for. May their tribe increase! |

| Dec. 18 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | r I've been on both sides of this equation; it is very nice when all you have to do is show up and play. We had guys from all over the country on my first 50+ teams (Orange Crush and Dan Smith). But the only times we got to practice together was prior to tournaments. The good-old days of fully paid sponsors are gone down here in Texas and I now am happy to play on a team that has sponor-paid entry fees. We did travel a good bit and we were on our own on air fare, rooms and cars. Before I moved to OKC, our tournament players got to hit together a lot and play lots of local tourneys together. That, to me, is more fun since we built friendships on and off the field and really improved team chemistry and camaraderie. I, do, however, miss Spring Training in Palm Springs in March when it's 20 degrees at home! |
