Discussion: Tanel R.A.G.E, Bat Bag Question

I am considering buying a Tanel Rage bat bag. An important feature that I need in a bat bag are lockable zippers where there are two zipper handles with holes in each zipper handle that meet in the middle of the pouch you are trying to close and where a small lock can be used to lock the two zipper handles. This is particularly important for the bat carrier storage compartment for air travel. Has anyone made a recent purchase of this bag and does it have lockable zippers on all of the storage compartments or just some of them and if it is just some of them, which ones.

The Tanel web site relative to this product says that it has lock accomodating zippers to protect valuables and I am wondering if that means that all the zippers are lock accomodating or just one pouch where one might be expected to store money and other valuables. When I looked at this bag at the 2009 World Tournament in Phoenix, I think I remember not buying the bag because it did not have a lockable zipper for the bat compartment. Maybe they came out with a 2010 model that has lock accomodating zippers for all zippers.

With multiple bats worth $500 or more, a glove that is broke in just right for you,and spikes needing to travel, I can't believe the bat bag manufacturers haven't figured out this player need. Most of the bat bags do not have lockable zippers.

Any help would be appreciated.

allan get a military duffel bag(they are around 36" long and can handle most bat bags),or a golf club travel bag(be careful of these as you can pack more than 50 lbs in here real easy),that way you don't have to have all the extra locks.also you have to remember that all locks that you use must be TSA approved so they can unlock your luggage for inspections.when traveling you might want to put your favorite glove and shoes in your carry on for safe keeping.

I bought a bag-cover from REI for $20 which is designed to protect and secure the bat bag. It works okay and the Tanel bag fits into it. The bag-cover folds into a very small package and can be put into the bat bag when not flying.

The military duffel bag may be a solution but I also want a rolling bat bag to take into the park and Tanel seems to have a very large and nice rolling bat bag but I need and want lockable zippers.

PlanoPlayer,
I have the Rage bag and travel alot.It has the zipper on the bat compartments as well as all the other compartments.I use the little plastic ties and lock mine every trip. You can buy the small lock and keys and use them.I have had no trouble traveling and keeping it locked.Hope this helps.

PP; I also have one of the Rage bags, the only complaint I have is if you use the two outside bat holders alot they will develop holes due to travel, otherwise I like the bag alot.

Tanel tells you that those holders are not for travel.......only to be used for game day bats.

salio2K,
your right, they did have a yellow sheet of paper with the bag that states,do not use the side bat holders for travel, just use it at the games and put them there at that time only.Several of my Tanel players didn't read it,and they did developed holes in those, got new bags and they learned a lesson.

do want the wheels for traveling also,if so the golf bag travel bag prolly is the best way to go,it has wheel on the bottom, you can get them for $40 on up.
#6 you do know that the security(at the airports) has to be able to inspect any checked bag going thru,so if they cut the zip ties, you now have an unsecured bag.also all locks must be able to be opened with the TSA master key.

mad dog,
I have been through the airport a dozen times this year and have never had to cut the ties or remove the locks to inspect it.It goes checked at the curb and I go through security, not saying I won't get checked, but haven't in 4-5 years.
Good luck this season.

i used to do the same thing yrs back.i was told by the airport people that they needed the TSA locks in case they need to inspect my bags(i have had my checked bags inspected before, they put a sheet of paper in there saying they did and this after they were checked in).

Guys,
Before I get bombarded with questions of why sports55.com can sell Tanel shoes for $29.99,here's the answer,I understand that several years ago they bought quite a lot of the Tanel shoes and put their log on them.
Also, from what I understand, they are selling them at this price to sell out their inventory. These are not the new shoes but the older version.STILL A GOOD BUY,BUT SIZES ARE LIMITED.If your looking for a great shoe and they have your size,it's a great buy.I can't even buy them at this cost.

I don't know anything about this company, but I do know this is a good buy until they sell out.
