| Jan. 5 garyheifner 651 posts | Just had my annual physical which included a cat scan of my heart area and neck area. My new cardiologist said, hey, you have never had the abdominal scan and lets do one because: "Abdominal Aneurysms" are the silent killer. No pain-no warning. Your major artery simply expands in an area until it blows and you bleed out in 3 minutes. It appears up to 3 million in our age range have one, don't know it, and 33,000 die each year and don't know what hit them. Guess what? I have one. Operation on the 27th. It will knock me out of the TOC in Feb. That sucks, but I guess it beats dying. Might want to talk to your doc about this. |

He had his fixed and hes now 76. Most notable non survivors are Harvey Korman, Lucille Ball, Albert Einstein, George C. Scott and Conway Twitty. What they all had in common is they all smoked. | Jan. 6 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | Gary Really glad you discovered it and plan to resolve it. There will be other TOC opportunities. We need to all watch our health and physical conditions more closely. I discovered, by accident, that I had prostate cancer. We went through the shock syndrome and elected to have robotic surgery. The surgeon came in and said that I had it 10 years and it got out. They had to watch my blood work closely. Last May, my PSA numbers started to climb again so we again, decided to do the IMRT radiation therapy. It was a tough 38 days and finished it 2 days before Phoenix. Just got blood results back a few weeks ago and PSA is dropping dramatically. Thank God. So to you and to all of us out there playing senior ball, take time to get checked out whenever and wherever you can. We are not invincable as we all thought we were. Ed |

| Jan. 30 garyheifner 651 posts | Well guys had the operation Thursday-still breathing Dr. Toucheck out of Chicago is internationaly known for this procedure. No SB for at least 8 weeks and a few follow up tests. I was real close to it blowing and then I would havehad 3 minutes to say goodbye. Doc said once again I fit the profile-White, over 60 and a male. Next physical ask your doc about the screening. |
