It was 35 degrees at 7am and 80 degrees by 12 noon, But I must add that it was great to start the new year off with some great weather and Softball. And seeing some old faces Ron D, Mike A and Steve Owens from Northern Cal. playing with GSF. Steve you look good man. Lost a lot of weight, You also look taller and did you straighten out those bow legs of yours, LOL

It was nice to meet a fellow SSWS member and supporter "Webbie25".

Hey Kennard-much appreciate it. You are right, I enjoy meeting the guys here-including you, George, Steve Imlay, Mike Adair and all the rest of you! It was a lot of fun and will be more fun in mid season form instead of straight off the couch getting fat! LOL It was fun playing with them and competing at that level.
See you soon!

PS-Kennard-that triple was fair-they said the ball had chalk on it, but was a tough call from hooking so hard.

Thanks Mark. It was nice to meet you in person. Come by again if your ever at another tournament

Yes 35 @ 6:30 in the morning and 80 in the day but Saturday night it was 40. Jerry and I were there til 8:30. You may not know this but Jerry had to go into his work at midnight Saturday. His night to morning supervisor's baby died. So he was up all night and worked all day Sunday at the tournament. If there such a thing as "the Superman Award" Jerry gets my vote. What a great guy to work with. I can't thank him enough.

Hey Mark, Fair or foul, That guy is one of thee worst umps around. I've seen and have been the victim of a few of his calls over the years, I’m looking forward to playing GSF again. Love playing against the best. Hey Mike Adair

Goof luck? I see I made a great impression, eh?? LOL
Kennard, it is a CTI brace-my second one. The first one lasted 21 years from 1988-2009 until it broke. I cannot play without it-last two times I tried I had surgery the next week. My first one was one of the first ones with a serial number about 360. I got the knee cup because we play enough on very rough outfields, especially in Albuquerque and it has taken some shots. I'm also bone on bone since 1998 and very close to my next surgery. The knee has tilted forward and only has 1 mm space under pressure. They want to break the bone and take a wedge out to level the knee. Doesn't sound like a walk in the park.
I agree the umpiring was a little less than stellar. We owe you a couple now!!

Kennard / Webbie,

Kennard,
Have you looked into the unloader brace, it has a screw on the outside part of the brace. You tighten the screw and it seperates the bones that are causing the problem. Its the only way i've been able to play the last couple of years. I looked into having a partial replacement done just on the bones with the problem. My doctor would not do it since i wanted to keep playing softball. He said it would wear out the bones around it and cause more problems. Ran into two guys last summer that had partial replacements within the last two years and they are now looking at a full replacement because the knee is worse. I wanted to do a full replacement last year but due to some wierd circumstances it got postponed at the last minute, may look into it again around October this year if i get my deductable taken care.

Good Luck

Webbie & Kennard,

I have been as busy as a one legged river dancer so I have not had a chance to respond. I look forward to the opportunity and challenge of playing the best teams in the country. D&K can no longer hide in the bushes with their revamped lineup. Hopefully we will see more of them in our next tournament. GSF plans on playing in Mesquite (March) and Vegas(April).

Mike, I'll check and see if Larry has D&K down for Mesquite, I'm pretty sure about Las Vegas. It would be nice to see all the Western States 60 M+ teams there. How many 60 M+ are there anyway? About 4 or 5 West of Colorado. There should be more if some teams would Stop Sand bagging and playing dowm. But it is, what it is. Always looking forward to see, play with, and against fellow Mavericks.

I know this. Larry told me to put him down for Feb 18-19 as he was leaving Sunday morning. If it makes a difference on where everybody is going next month.

John-thanks for the heads up on that brace, I will look into it.
Mike, I admit to getting nervous when I get to third and you are up-4 times last weekend looking down the barrel of your bat :-) I just started a new job after 1 1/2 yrs unemployed on Tuesday this week and the one weekend I cannot make because of inventory is Mesquite. Absolutely mandatory. But, we owe D&K a couple now. I can't wait to get back on the field against you guys!
