I tried to find the thread about the Impact Players List but couldn't. If memeory serves me right, it said that the purpose of this list is to seperate the impact players from AAA and AA players for safety's sake. Then why is it that Major Plus teams play AAA and AA teams in pool play in qualifiers and national tournaments?

Couldn't agree more. The associations have been a miserable failure in regulating players and teams playing down. Our team travelled 4 states to play in a qualifier which we won against an evenly matched team. We next find ourselves playing against the "same" team in Reno for 1st place. Major players from other teams are wondering why our team AA is playing against a team that has now been stacked with Major+ players but is the same team we played only a month earlier. The associations need to find a way to preserve both the integrity of the game and the integrity of their association(s). In the same vein we see teams being moved up to act as cannon fodder to fill holes in major tournaments because other teams are no longer participating do to the imbalance and inequities. This has disbanded numerous teams as it all boils down to the individual player. Why play in an unfair situation?

The associations need to put more than window dressing in the way of a few named impact players to balance the
playing field. Other than that all we have is organized recreation with no representation of responsible competition.

Don’t feel bad. They allowed a guy in Reno to play on a 50 major + team (they took 2nd) and then play on a 55 AAA team that won. This was at the same tournament in Reno. He would go from one field to the other. When we asked how he could do that they TD said, “He qualified on both teams so it was okay”. Go figure.

When we first saw anything about this matter it was in the SSUSA newsletter. I noticed that we (GSF) had 7 players on the list. Two of them had already left the team to play AAA (their team was later classified as major) before the 2006 season began. We have two players that are in the HOF (they earned it... as opposed to just being role players on good teams), neither of which were on the 'Impact Players List'. I racked my brain trying to determine how they came up with those 7 players and it appears that it was/is a list of 2005 SPA All-tourney recipients.
I'm not certain how this particular grouping really helps protect the AA & AAA divisions. I'm not even clear if that is the objective. But if this is The Summit's intent, more screening is needed to truly segregate the power hitters from the other divisions... if it is a safety issue. And, if this is the point, having major/major + teams play AA/AAA teams is counter productive. Right now it just seems to be a concern until such time as it possibly interferes with revenue streams.

Bob-You are exactly right; the "impact players list" is nothing more than a list of those folks who made the SPA All-Tournament teams in 2005.
