About 7 years ago I thought I had rotator cuff problems as I couldn't lift my right arm above my head. I went to an orthopedist and he determined that I had bursitis. An anti-inflammatory fixed that.
Good luck with your surgery.

Prepatellar bursa is an inflammation of the frontal knee cap. It can be treated with ice, rest, an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofin, or can be drained with a syringe. It is a good idea to wear a knee pad to pro tect it when playing softball. Good luck.

Does that also cause pain when you use the other foot to pull off your shoe in other words like an aching when being pulled on?

About 30 years ago when I was in my early 20's, I had this same issue with my knee and kept playing on it. I went to the doc multiple times and they kept draining it, but it would refill with fluid really quick, I mean in a couple days. Darn thing was about the size of a tangerine. NO PAIN though?????

It developed into a huge problem, and then I got a staff infection in it. I wound up spending about a week in the hospital hooked up to IV's while they continued to drain the knee, docs actually had to put about a two inch slit in the skin directly over the knee cap, packed it, and kept in from moving.

If any athletes have these and ignore it, get it looked at before it turns into staff infection. I wound up with 104 degree fever and my leg was "red hot".

Looking back I'm wondering if I got the staff infection, from the multiple times they went in and drained it with a syringe???
