Discussion: Hope You Have a Blessed Holy Day and Holidays

This day as every day is a time to give thanks to the Lord for giving us the health to use the ability He gave us all to use in honoring His name. In Jesus name I say these things.

lets see we all use senior bats--we have two homeplates--two first bases--the same balls--aha everything is a wash----so in reality it goes back to wha ti said on one of these threads many posts ago---DEFENSE and good base running!!!!! so back to the basics despite the equipment changes and rules that apply to all---

Discussion: For the guys who still play with the kids.......

Gary--I played in two different senior leagues and a church league (ages 16 to 65) two different travel teams and must honestly say the best competition was in the travell tourneys---in the church league one team would freeze then microwave the balls to get an edge--in two of the three leagues we could not use senior bats and I saw as many hit out of the park as in the league where senior bats were used-
the umpires missed about the same amount of calls no matter where the game was--but the "bad" calls seemed equally distributed--
so you have nothing to get over--why then do you go from CRs to senior bats to now umpires and the number of outs --apparently you don't like the 5 run rule either---I am starting to think you are just a bitter old man with huge chips on your shoulders

Gary you do realize that Jesus birthday is right around the corner---God gave us a brain to think with. I keep reading the threads and your comments come up often and despite what you are saying you are prepared to come back from a different angle if someone responds differently than how you think.
So lets try to put this in as simple a form as can be.
the answer is simple MONEY
why do they make more cars there are easily more on the lots than people to drive them---why are more and bigger houses built?? again there are enough empty house to satisfy the market--
go back to wooden bats I used more wood bats with screws and tape holding them together than what bats I now have---the markey went from wood to aluminum and they lasted really good--hence not enough market so they come up with composite--they ---as you say--hit the ball farther (I do not agree with this) but have not much lastability--hence money once again makes the world go round!!! this thinking holds true for almost anything except the CRs and I know that the Associations got together and said lets install CRs just to aggravate Gary19--so now you have the real reason so get over it

Gary for perhaps the third time--team I played on only one of first 5 batters could run for themselves--so your last out -saves time theory is shot full of holes---sadly everyone is not 50 with good joints any longer so CRs are a way of life---read the threads Gary and yo uwill find the maiority want CRs and we live in a democracy where maiority rules

DCPete please don't get Gary19 going with his same old line "last out runs"
Gary math and/or science has little to do with you using the same arguments despite the majority going against you--you must be a politician since you only hear yourself talk--
SSUSA staff please remove courtesy runner threads as they appear--the same old argument is sooooooo boring not to mention unproductive

pricer I started a thread "Fortunate" and it has quite a few posts--in fact you posted on it four times --seems everyone was pretty much in agreement---now you post on this thread that only "troublemakers" keep threads alive--I think "fortunate" disproves your statement

from reading the various threads on CRs I thought an overwhelming majority of those commenting are in favor of the CRs remaining as is---but then I do wear corrective lenses and they might be outdated!!

to replace senior softball---hmmm I have a cabinet shop in my yard and I could go back to making furniture pieces for the kids--of course that is lots and lots of alone time--I could fish but have caught most of the fish in this private lake--several other things come to mind but nothing I can think of can fill all the spaces Senior Softball has filled--exercise to stay in shape--plan trips around tournaments--"senior" softball take sus all back in mind and body to our younger days--lets come up with ways to improve the experience not just knock what we have

Discussion: Do you guys thank....

Sarcasm to remember that we all have God to thank ?? gary I even thank the waitress for bringing my food---common decency is all it amounts to---Good can be found in everything as well as bad--I choose to find good wherever I can--I even find good in your negativity--it makes me think of ways to respond with "good" comments to you--have you never realized that as you put your foot on the floor to get out of bed that there are others that will never get up again--have you never thought as you step over the foul line that other would give anything to be able to do the same thing--I for one thank God every time I swing a bat without pain--thank Him every time I run for one of my friends--try it and yo uwill find your life and outlook improving

Not to be a smart aleck but I thank God every day for giving me another day and for all the things that can only start with Him. Remember we are about to celebrate the birth of His Son.

I started the last thread in an attempt to bring praise to the game as it is today. It was hi-jacked as usual.
Every morning I look at the Obits and see many younger than I going to meet their maker and here I am still playing what I consider a kids game. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be playing. Sure the game has flaws (I personally don't see them) But consider the alternative--give me the game any day!!! Thank you SSUSA SPA and all the other organizations---lets get ready for spring!!!

Discussion: senior bats--courtesy runners--

never said it couldn't work except some teams have too many guys that need runners--I play on one of those
why can't you just accept it as a pinch runner and a managers right to use strategy???
personally I think CRs make the game far more interesting--
why can't yo urealize that there are thousands of guys like myself that love the opportunity to play and anything that prolongs that ability is very welcome
so why oh why do you have to attempt to rattle everyones cage???

Gary19 it seems to everyone on here except you that every argument you have had on any and all subjects have been effectively disputed. you talk on here to hear yourself talk apparently your wife and children have heard your ramblings long enough and now shut you off.

once again Gary all you can do is generalize---I have been burned and yes some have gotten into the gap but do you know what as many were hit with an ASA bat as with the senior bats--I play in a park district league where everyone uses ASA bats--there is no way you can prove your stance and its not fact just because you keep coming at the point from different angles---it is speculated that senior bats give an advantage--can you produce proof?? speculation is not proof---and no one said anything about psychological inpact--- I was talking physically---but then by not playing you would never understand that aspect--now I have to go to the chiropractor dor treatment on a seperated shoulder--result of coming in for a short fly ball---

Well Gary I really thought you would have some facts but to my chagrin you had nothing.
In response to your questions and charges--I play the outfield and do not play deep until you burn me.
Do I play--well teams I played on won four out of seven tournament we entered this year including two winternational championships. and I ran myself until I would cramp up completely aand could not play just to help my team and the friends I play with. That is what senior softball is all about.
as for your comment about the bats--the shut out I mentioned--everyone used the senior bats---and as stated I hit some out using a demarini f3 --its an ASA bat--so if you can hit the bat doesn't matter --
also I was not bashing you I was challenging you to produce proof of your stance. I believe I saw you do the same thing in another thread.
This was my first year to travel and according to my wife the difference it made in me was worth any cost. So I will continue to play with all the problems guys like you bring up and be very happy doing so.
To the SSUSA staff you are doing a fantastic thankless job and I hope you know most of us really appreciate it--thank you and keep up the good work
