Discussion: what's the best senior bat, gave up on the gsc promises.

I appreciate the advice on the best bat, still plotting on whether going heavier will help with durability. Don't know if any research by manufacturers or knowledge gained by experience exists on the subject.. Might be a subject worth pursuing more. Again, thanks. D5

Also, might a more heavy bat increase durability. I have always used 26 oz to get bat speed. Maybe someone with bat manufacturing or other relevant experience has some good ideas.

After a year of hearing how the gsc solid core bat was due out anytime I give. Whats the best senior bat with durability being most important, but with reasonable distance. I haven't broke a Worth yet, because I haven't tried or seen one. Due to play tournaments again, plan on swinging easier to avoid breaks. I should improve my average by concentrating on a quality swing. Hopefully enough distance will be there. I will appreciate any good recommendations on what's best. Thanks

New GSC video is out on their web site, but no release date given. This has been an amazing saga. I hope it ends well. If anyone gets any real update please share. I have gotten no responses the past days in response to calls and emails. The new video says something about a company needing to step up.

Ho, Thanks for sticking up for someone being insulted, even if he brings it on himself. We can stay above the insults by simply ignoring what seems unworthy of response.

Discussion: Miken Ultra II balanced and end load.

Most people involved in senior softball have raised families, fought wars, meet lives challenges and deserve respect and the benefit of doubt. Life has taught me that those who disrespect others usually don't respect themselves. We have choices, can we keep this board a positive opportunity to share information without worrying about someone jumping on any opportunity to insult. I appreciate those who have given me answers when requested. Again thank you.

Bat authorities, like tri18, whats your inside on the gsc senior bat, and the big companies likely response if the bat does come out. It would be appreciated.

My experience with the 3 senior bats is I broke all three on days the wind was blowing in, causing me to try and line the ball out. I broke both the rebook and combat on two at bats. As long as I put back spin on the ball I rarely broke my bats, including the ultra, except on cold days or bad balls. Back spinning the ball is much less likely to break the bats compared to hitting square on.

I imagine this has been incredibly difficult for Steve and his family and they have made mistakes, disappointed and frustration a lot of people, but I think they will come through.

They say that another snag, with an equipment installation, has delayed their introduction, but they are looking at the next week or so.

Discussion: Talking Trash

It's clear that the vast majority see trash talking as negative behavior. It's also clear that for some it's a compulsive need. No amount of discussion will likely change compulsive trash talking. We will probably just have to deal with it like any other negative social behavior. Too bad we have to endure it on this board. Before you let let the frustration get to you it's best to walk away, other wise you probably just feed the need of the trash talker to continue. This topic has continued to absurdity, so I'm out of here. Better things to do. Hope this topic goes away soon.

Discussion: Talking Trash

If someone needs to trash talk to get an edge in a slow pitch senior softball game, I can't relate. I appreciate the vast majority that don't need it.

Discussion: Talking Trash

Trash talk is called trash for a reason. We have all lived most of our lives. We play softball for fun, for healthy competition and to stay young. A positive and respectful atmosphere to play can be created or destroyed. We are not professional athletes looking for a competitive edge. We are just a bunch of older guys trying to enjoy our last good years. Bullying takes many forms, physical, psychological or emotional. Age is irrelevant. I don't want to be around trash talk or bullying in any of its forms. Most of us have experienced enough trash and want a positive and supportive environment to bring out the best in ourselves and others. You are free to do or say what you want but there are always consequences. My vote is trash talk is a form of bullying no matter who does it, famous athlete or not. Sure we can playfully kid each other but it is easy to not know the real effects on another.

Discussion: Sensitivity To Veterans

I am a South East Asia, Viet Nam era vet. A good friend after the war was a Vietnamese youth who escaped Viet Nam, with the help of the US Marines, during the fall. He later became a US Marine Officer because he appreciates America. You have the freedom here to return awards or not. I am proud to have served, but hold on hate or resentments, wars end.

Maybe a fake label would help a player use the bat in a league not allowing senior bats. The bat could pass for a regular GSA solid core bat. Wood bats are solid core and Sammy Sosa found a way to cork it. Lets just wait and see.

Discussion: Reebok Melee

My experiences are that the senior bats are fine if you don't hit over about 300 feet or in cold conditions. Likely most of us know this but to be competitive we keep using the bats knowing if we are big hitters we are going to break these bats. I have given up on these bats with the hope the veteran core bat comes out soon as expected. Seniors who are not big hitters will usually be fine with with the present bats as far as breakage. If you are a big hitter and can afford to keep buying and breaking the bats to be competitive fine. Kind of gives an advantage to wealthier players, maybe, but thats probably part of the senior game too. Which gets to the question, for the cost conscious, how much is the new gsc veteran bat expected to cost?

Discussion: home run derby balls and bats used by softball 360

Just wondering what balls are used during the softball 360 type contests where they hit over 500ft blasts . I can find nothing during web searches. We know balls and bat types make a big difference. Does any body have more than a guess. Thanks if you know.
