Discussion: Food for thought to the organizations..........

Is it all about money or do these organizations truly care about increasing senior participations??? Here are a couple areas of interest that I have discussed with the "higher ups" years ago.....
1) why don't players get rated instead of the teams??...Reason: so many seniors want to participate but cannot find a team, for one reason or another, to get involved. It could be reason for money or time issues, etc. In this manner, there could be a division in the regional and national tournaments for those and handled by a person for that region. Results: money player participation, more teams and of course, more monies for the organizations !!!
2) Why don't these organizations allow the host cities for tournaments be given the rights for league teams to participate without individual cards. Again, sooooo many players do not have the time to invest for a long term commitment, but it gives them the opportunity to get a flavor for the fun of playing senior softball and having the opportunity to meet new friends and experience the fellowship.
Just curious to what other's may think on the above. You may have other areas of thought .thank you for reading.....

Hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones. My name is Larry and I live in Central Ohio and looking for a 55 or 60 team, AA, AAA or Major:(prefer AA or AAA as there seems to be more teams)..I did not play this year and miss the fellowship and contacts with the other players throughout the tournaments. Many know of me but few know me. I am not into the politics nor egoes. I feel that we all should be Blessed that God has given us the continued opportunity to play the game that we dearly love and have played since our childhood days. MY email: funinsun333@yahoo.com thank you..

Discussion: James "Bro" Musgrave......

of Akron, Ohio passed away one day before his 61st. birthday from fighting a couragious battle with cancer. He had played for the Silver Legends and Steel Dawgs. Bro was not the flashiest player nor did he stand out from the rest of the players with any spectacular abilities. He played with a huge heart and always, ALWAYS gave a 120% effort both on the field and assisting the team or any player off the field. I have seen him run thru fences to attempt to catch a fly ball and to leaving a game to take a teammate to the hospital. Never did he ever leave the field with a dry shirt and never said "no" to anything that his coach or team needed. I am saddened as with many others for the loss. It should make us reflect as to how precious life should be to all of us and how Blessed we are to play the game that we so dearly love and have played since our childhood days. Tears cannot say it all to my fellow teammate and I know somewhere he is helping someone else in need or playing in his "Field of Dreams". To Bro, my MVP....may God Bless.

Discussion: Anyone use Glucosamine, Chondroitin and/or MSM?

Bruce; I have taken all three for the past several years. It will work on about 25% of the time. I was to have had knee surgery and with two x-rays 12 months apart, cartilage had appeared enough to eliminate the surgery. I found the best place to obtain at a reasonable price is Costco and Sam's Club...Hope this helps..

Discussion: Senior sotball tourns...???

thanks guys..got knocked off again. Seems like these guys speak from both sides of their mouth. They say they promote senior softball but only if they get their $$$ in return. I will hit these web sites that you had mentioned with the April 24th. Cols, Ohio tourn. I just want to see more people get involved that do not have the money to travel. Any other advice, I would very much appreciate. thank you: funinsun333@yahoo.com

Discussion: Senior sotball tourns...???

can any of you list an unbiased site to list senior softball tourns. Some leagues just do not have the money to patronize the national tourns. but would like to play more locals. Been in senior ball for quite a few years and more and more, it is about money and not really promoting the senior game. Please let me know: funinsun333@yahoo.com thanks.

Discussion: SAFETY FIRST

the screened was agreed upon by the coaches at the time of the game; if deemed necessary. It is bad enough to play during the day with the bats we use. I have seen what can happen with a night game. No legislation here. Nothing harmed if two coaches agree. And I feel that the rules were written as such to not deter from the basic game of softball.

Discussion: SAFETY FIRST

I had a fall tourn. of which was hampered by rain but i did incorporate rules for the usage of a screen if we had to go into night games of which all of the teams seemed to have liked. IT can be done. However, I would first like to start with required protection such as masks and head guards for the runners...again, "make it cool !! " And if we had to go into night games, make it an agreeable option of both teams to utilize the screen.
