Joe, congrats on your win at 65 Major and beating some of my good friends on the San Antonio Silver Streaks team. Congrats to them for finishing second in a very tough division.

Congrats to all my friends on the Rimfire and Superior teams. It's always good to see and talk to Bill Gore and Joe 'Lefty' Falcon from Rimfire. And it was a great pleasure to see and visit with my old friend and teammate of many years Tom 'T-Bone' Malvich. And, as always , all the great players on the Hamels and Rose 65 teams. Keep in good health and we will try it again next year!

Discussion: 1 and 1 pitch count

This topic has been beaten to death year after year. It seems to me the younger seniors prefer the 1-1 count while the older (65+) by-and-large prefer the traditional count. I play in a senior league here in OKC that uses the 1-1 and I am not a fan. As someone said above, one bad call or pitch on the back corner and the hitter is at a big disadvantage. I have hit many more pitchers in our league than I have in tournaments (none) due to having to protect the plate much earlier in the count. Just my personal experience.

65 major; San Antonio Silver Streaks were playing the EnviroVac Marauders to see who would play Rimfire 4:13.

Andy, my bad...looks like you guys are the only ones with no brackets in the 55s! Must be nice to have so many teams though.

Also, in the older age groups you will run an outfield to death using the 5-man unless you have enough guys to rotate guys around in the outfield. In the 65s, we run the traditional 4-man OF and still rotate guys in and out to keep them fresh especially if they are leading off in our next at bat,

Congratulations to all the new inductees! Having played with or against all those named in this thread, I can attest to their abilities and competitive nature. In addition, all are great representatives of Senior Softball!

Discussion: team eligibility

Yes, you are eligible to play in the 65 age group during the year in which you turn 65. Actually, you can play in the Winter Worlds which take place later this year as a 65 to be since the Winter Worlds use next years' roster.

To me, the complex feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. It's a hike from pretty much any of the hotels we stay at along Boulder Highway and farther than that from the Strip.

Discussion: Sunset Park-Vegas

There are several places to hit at Sunset. There are fields and some relatively
open areas. Watch out for the frisbee golf people. If you play during the week, it is usually easy to find a place to hit. On weekends, it is much harder.

I really like the Senior Gear - the only problem is I could not keep the end cap in. I finally used a marine adhesive (on the fourth fix) and it has stayed in. Great bat with a lot of pop.

Dbax, Not speaking for SSUSA but I believe Chain Link got moved up because they finished 2nd out of 14 teams in the World Championships. They also finished 2nd out of 7 teams in the Southwest Championships and 2nd out of 10 teams in Reno.

Discussion: What was to consensus on DBO Homerun rule after Rock N Roll Reno?

I play 65 Major + with Omen and we very rarely hit our allotment of HRs. I would say we average 2 a game and that's because Fred Purvis plays with us!

Bob, what i've heard is that the Texas Legends 65s won the AAA and Team Mayhem from Oklahoma won 55 AAA. That's all I know since I did not get to play this year.
