| Dec. 17, 2013 Tim Millette 615 posts | How about a discussion on ow we think dbos will effect our games? And our assumptions why. 1) There will be less missile/rockets hit per game. Why? A) Because the very powerful hitter know if they cut the ball just a little it's going our of the park so they will adjust to aiming a little more often (when there is no one or just one baserunner) instead of just swinging hard. B). Because once a team gets to around 2 or 3 homeruns from their limit, the powerful hitters will try many things to keep from WASTING one of the few homers left...pushing the ball, throttling down the bat speed for location instead. 2) There will be more balls hit up the middle (which will put pressure on the official to enforce a batters box)... A) this will require the younger age groups to play a five man infield more often (thereby adding value to fast outfielders/even if they are not great hitters). 3) Hitters will pull the ball hard less often... a) reducing the risk of injury to runners and first and third basemen. 4) less powerful teams will be "more able" to compete with the power teams.. a) power teams will have a harder time powering their way past less powerful teams., no more just hit it out then we you get close to the limit and then just hit dead ball walk after dead ball walk to fill the bases. 5) faster/smaller defensive players will have more value. A) because defense will be more important because the opposition will be trying to keep the ball in the yard more often. 6) big sloths will be less valued (probably why some are crying so much about this dbo rule) A) there are only so many catcher/AH/1B positions available. There are a few....how about some more? |

Are you saying guys who for whatever reason can't run wide open anymore should be exiled from senior softball?? I am not a big sloth but I could be if my wife keeps cooking and baking for Christmas!!!!!!!!!! haha PattyMac |

| Dec. 17, 2013 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | DBO topic. I moved to 3rd base this year from outfield because we had 8 outfielders. Hey, if the BIG hitters start hitting down and bad bounces happen on the infield, !! There are going to be some guys get hurt bad. You do not have a chance to move with a thousands of a second on a bad bounce. C |

On my 50 team our pitcher was our shortstop a year ago, our third baseman played pro football, our catcher and eh also play in the outfield when needed. All are great fielders. I play first base and not qualified as a big sloth but do qualify as the old man on the team at 61. LOL Still run for myself, but after a torn Achilles tendon, but most think I am jogging. haha There is a place in the game for anyone who has the heart and drive to play. All of us can't be the all around players that others are we just do the best we can in the game we love. PattyMac |

You tore your achilles but you continue run and adapt to what you have. To me it's like saying we should move the bases to like 50 ft after the 5th inning since we already ran around like 5-10 times. LOL |

| Dec. 18, 2013 Perl 212 posts | The truth about the Patty Mac & Bruce Fairchild combo team is they would be hard to beat in the AA, AAA, Major or Major +. They can both basehit, hit bombs and, even though they both play the sloth position (1B), they can pick it. |
