Webbie and D&K,

Great fun and great games in Vegas. That is what you play the game for, close games and great competition. Great hitters and players on both teams but even better guys.

Always enjoy seeing and playing against the West Coast boys. The fields were pure enjoyment for an old Southern boy who is used to just seeing chain link parks. I thought Reno was the best but now i think Las Vegas. Hope we get to play there again in September.

See you guys soon.

Discussion: The Rock balls

Hey Webbie,

My thoughts on the balls are this. I really enjoy the rock balls. In the south where we play most of our tournaments we hit the stote in SSUSA tourneys.

They are good when the temperatures are below 80, usually winter nationals or TOC. Summer tourneys around in the south the temps and the humidity make the stote a rolled up sock during daylight hours. No fun to hit them.

Most teams down here feel the same way about them. Differend environment down here in Dixie. Give us the Rock anytime.

Adiktiv Sports was accidently moved by SPA to Major plus. That mistake was rectified later today by Ridge Hooks.

Adiktiv Sports will be 50 major this year.

Maddog,

The rock they use in LVSSA was great in the heat. We played in las vegas and the heat was over 100 and played during the middle of the day and the balls were great. Alot better than the stote. The stote in the south is a mush ball during the hot part of the day.

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know with the rule changes for next year to match with LVSSA rules will the ball also be the "rock" ball used in Las Vegas?

It is a great ball that really holds up well in the heat. Being from the South the ball really makes a difference with the heat and humidity we have down here in the summers.

The stote and rock are both Trump balls and most players will agree that the best ball should be used.

Discussion: RED FLAGS FLYING OVER LVSSA/SSUSA MERGER

I played in Las Vegas two weeks ago in the 55 major plus division. We won 3 round robin games and then scored almost 100 runs in our two losses in the tournament. After saying that this was the most fun tournament that our team played in all year. Great competition, great ball and all the hitting and defense you wanted. Whats wrong with playing a 2 hour game? We play to play and the two hour games we played were nothing but fun. Few balls were hit up the middle because you could take a full swing.

Hope they keep the "Rock" ball in the new tournament as it stayed good all day, even in the heat, not like the balls usually used by SSUSA in their tournaments.

Discussion: Todays game?

Hey 19,

The name calling was what you are calling Joe.

He loves the game as much as you and i and he is just stating his opinion.

Joe can hit with any bat and again i have played against Joe for 10 years and he is a great hitter.

I don't usually get on here but just thought i would add to the conversation.

Discussion: Todays game?

Hey 19,

Many of my friends play AAA and they really enjoy it. They are men. My statement had to do with the update of equipment, especially bats. 10 years ago when i started playing senior softball everyone couldn't hit a ball 300 ft. The composite bat, ultra II changed the game. It was not a pompous statement just the truth.

Why do you have to call people names?

Just because they don't agree with you?

People that know me know that i don't have a superiority complex.

Maybe you and i could meet at one of the world tournaments and discuss face to face.

Hey 19,

Don't know who you are and really don't care. If in your mind someone is pompous for stating their opinion then i suggest you look in the mirror to see pompous.

I have been known to speak my mind and i will continue to do so.

I took a header playing first base last year in the last inning of the championship game against MTC 55 major plus team in Las Vegas. I never thought the ball was to hard or the bats to lively, just part of the game. Also Joe was the first one i saw when i woke up with the knot on my forehead.

Gary C,

I have played against Einstein for 10 years and i have always thought he was one of the best hitters in the game of senior softball. I don't know who you have watched play but Einstein has always played great defense as a 3rd baseman or at pitcher.

Let AAA's play with the dead ball let Major and Major plus play with a good ball. I am in agreement to play with aluminum bats with a 47 ball. Separates the men from the boys.

At the end of the day it is still slowpitch and it is a hitters game and always will be. Pitchers should have to follow the rules just like everyone else. 6-12 is a perfect pitch to hit. That is the rule.

Discussion: Pitching Rules

Joe,

Good to see you back on board. I quit playing with the young guys here in Florida because it was mostly USSSA and the umpires had no clue as to what the strike zone was. Anything crossing the plate, no matter how low or how fast was a strike.

I never practice hitting this type pitching as no where in senior softball is this type pitching allowed.

Also slow pitch is a hitters game and always will be. A true 12 foot arc is a great batting practice pitch. If you are 6 ft. tall then extend your arm above your head and hold the bat as high as you can and then stand on you tip toes and you will see that 12 is not so high. I have showed this to a couple of umpires who were allowing 18 to 20 ft. arc and they were amazed.

Actually started calling illegal pitches after that.

Hope to see yall soon after rehabing from ruptured appendix.

Discussion: Combat Centenarian

Guys,

Finally broke the developmental centenarian, over 1500 swings. Thought it would last forever.haha

Got my 27 full load centenarian 2 weeks ago. Broke in with around 50 swings. As good as the developmental bat, lively with a big sweet spot. Hits as good as any senior bat that i have ever had. Got around 500 swings on the 27 and is still going strong.

I will be swinging these bats and will have some in pensacola in a couple of weeks.

Discussion: Combat Centenarian

Guys,

I have had the centenarian developmental bats since the TOC. The bats that i have were brand new and after 20-30 swings the bats broke in.
It is my opinion that the bats do swing a little heavy, but are every bit as good as anything on the market for senior players now. I have around 500 swings in the bats and they are only getting better and better. Big sweet spot and tremendous distance and solid line drives. Can't wait to get the real thing to use in tournament play.
One of my senior softball buddies thinks that the bats are better than anything he has.

Just my opinion.

Discussion: Its Unanimous - The Best Senior Softball Players Are in California and Florida

Those of us who live in the Florida panhandle can't play in the half century as it at least an 8 hour drive to the closest tournament so this really leaves us with a predicament. Most of us up here play on teams that have players from Alabama and Georgia. This really dooms us. I am glad SPA is alive and well. Also anyone who played in pensacola winter nationals need to contact ridge and tell him how much you enjoyed the ball we hit. Great ball, great fun and no one hurt by a hit ball.

Einstein, audie let me know if yall get together for the touramanet as any of those places yall will play will be closer than the half century tournaments.haha

Discussion: How to Start a Major/Major+ Circuit

Mike and Einstein,

Why won't the powers to be just let us play. Time limit the games and if you don't get seven innings who cares.

The hitting the pitcher rule is not going to change a thing.

What is the difference, hitting one over the fence for an out or accidentally hitting a pitcher for an out. An out is an out.

Slowpitch softball is a hitters game and hitting up the middle is part of the game. I guarantee that Einstein doesn't cry when someone hits one up the middle and he catches it and throws him out and says "sit down Waldo".

Most major plus players are pull hitters anyway. I doubt very seriously if anyone trys to hit a pitcher.

Juat frustrated by all the changes. Mike had it right about SPA. They let us play and hit our own balls.

Maybe the other organizations can follow suit.

Ridge, if you read this, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!
