We have lost another great person
Jim Hellam passed yesterday after a long battle. He played for the Old A's/Omen. Jim touched many lives, both on & off of the softball field. RIP Jim......

I've known Jim for 10 years or so and have always had a great deal of respect for him... both as a player and a person.
Whether his team was 20 up, tied or 20 down Jim was always the same guy... intensely competitive but extremely affable. I find this to be a rare combination.
He will definitely be missed.

"Man is condemned to be free. Condemned because he did not create himself, yet is nevertheless at liberty, and from the moment he is thrown into this world he is responsible for everything he does" - SARTRE. There is an incredible bond after 13 years between teammates who become brothers and close friends. Jim was exceptional in celebrating individual uniqueness and competition all the while knowing that triumph was in team effort. Jimmy moves on to join AC Linde also from the Old'A's to the Big Team in the heavens. Close friends are precious in life.

I had the pleasure of playing on the Old A's with Jim on several occasions over the years. Jim was an intense competitor who gave his best all the time. AND a true gentleman on and off the field.

Jim was my road roommate for 14 years while traveling the U.S.A. seeking out our opponents/friends. He truly was a fierce competitor and the life of the dugout wherever he went. Those across the country who know Jim will have fond memories of him to share. I will miss him greatly! - Mike Rittenhouse OMEN/Old A's

Jim was definitely positive energy in every group setting he attended.
Parties, Games, BP, or just happening to run into him on the streets, I always enjoyed our time together.

I got to know his son John trough my step daughter Amanda. She to was saddened to hear the news.

My heart goes out to all those he continues to touch..

To his Old A's clan..I am sorry for your great loss
