Phoenix world - need field assignments
Hotels often say "Book by October 24, 2014 for special rates!!" Yet it is Nov 2nd and we still have no info on the fields.
Isn't there enough historical info to have a good guess on number of teams per division earlier and temporary filed assignments ?
We travel as couple and sometimes have extended stays and this late info costs money and makes planning a big pain.
Phoenix and TOC and Vegas have fields that are very spread out - is the TOC which we hope to plan for gong t be the same issue and not have assignments until Jan 2nd? Waiting until registration is 100% makes it rough.

Field assignments for Phoenix are on hold at least through Tuesday ... The event "blew up", in a good way, this year, expanding from a tournament record 150 or so last year to about 180 this year before we cut off entries early at 175 and started a "wait list" mid-day Friday ... Efforts are underway today (Sunday) to procure more fields at Big League Dreams (8 fields on Friday only) and possibly another complex in Phoenix (won't know until they open for business Monday) so that we can clear the wait list teams and get everyone into the tournament ... Based on the success of those efforts, we should be in a position to make some TENTATIVE assignments by mid-week ...

Daffster: You're one of the multitude of anonymous posters here, so it's impossible to provide you with any even halfway relevant information without knowing your Session, age group or division ... But we would have suggested, if it weren't already eight days past the hotel block window when you posted, that you should have booked into the Raddison Phoenix Airport headquarters hotel, which is very convenient to Papago and Mountain Vista, reasonably freeway convenient to Cesar Chavez and Desert West, but a bit less so for Rose Mofford ... Your odds of catching one of those would have been 80% from that hotel ...

You'd be hard pressed to Top Arizona Fields, Field Locations, Airport, Hotels, and Freeways! Yes, it gets HOT here, but as we say, it's a Dry Heat ! ! !

"Maricopa County" is about as specific as we can be until probably late Monday or Tuesday ...

With 30 more Teams it's a Crap Shoot!? Last year (2014) 50AAA was at Desert West. 2013 AAA was at Rose Mofford. With mention of BLD and another to handle overflow, multiple divisions may have to play at 2 different fields. It's Unfortunate, but as SSUSA Staff says, in a good way ! ! !

JDub ... I didn't think the first line from our post earlier this morning was all that confusing and would require a followup inquiry! ...

Field assignments for Phoenix are on hold at least through Tuesday ...

Dave, it was you who said Daffster needed to be more specific to get at least an idea.

Which is why I was specific.

Jdub - yes they were. I was at both. As much as I like Phoenix if you guess wrong on hotel, you could be 45 mins away from field. I was at Mofford and staying with friends 2 years ago, but they lived in Gilbert.

LONG Drive.

Growth is a Good Thing, but it does make it difficult for Planning. Dave will figure it out and make it as Painful, I mean as Painless as possible ! ! !

Was just messin' with you wdodge22 ... It struck me as funny that as soon as we announced no information would be forthcoming until at least Tuesday, you followed up right away with an information request on Sunday ... All the details in the world are not going to get Tuesday in line ahead of the preceding Sunday! ...

We're working on it now, having secured Big League Dreams/Gilbert yesterday for Friday, so we're down to one more piece of the puzzle from the City of Phoenix when they open for business this morning ...

Dave, I think you need to let each one of these guys try to set up a tournament just to see what it's like. With all the things that you have to do, it is amazing that things almost always work out real well. I do understand the hotel thing but if nobody organized these tournaments we wouldn't be playing the game we love so much. Come on guys Dave's working his tail off for you.

Hey Webbie ... All is good here in Florida and Phoenix will be the same ... Just posted the TENTATIVE Field Assignments for the Winter Worlds, but that one may go into the file folder marked "...Be Careful What You Ask For, You Might Just Get It!..." ... Some teams may want to book multiple hotels by day! ...
