I think all teams start in AAA now, this is a rule. After you play in a qualifier they might move you dow to AA if you get beat bad emough. I also think you can choose to play in Major or Major + if you want.

I have put together two Arizona Senior Olympic teams, last year and this year. I am a rookie at Senior Softball, but play in 5 leagues in Tempe and Mesa. My teammates and I are interested in playing in some local tournaments. I have googled everything in sight, but can't find what I am looking for: some tournaments in this area to play in, so we can improve by playing more together, etc. Even if I can find a tournament, I don't know what classification we would be in. If every new team starts out at AAA, we are doomed already. We play 50 - 55, or could go 55 - 60 if necessary. We don't want to travel all over, and are looking for something around Phoenix, or Arizona. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.

I have also heard that all NEW TEAMS START OUT AAA
and then can move down after three bad tournaments. I can not find the rule any place. Does someone know where
we can find it in the rules?????

You start at the AAA level. For example, my team played in ft myers this past november and we assumed we were AA. we were basically a new team, with some guys who played before at the AA level. none of the guys had ever played at the AAA level. we entered the tournament, sent in the fee, assumed we were AA, got to the manager's meeting on thrusday and were told that would stay AAA. We played AAA &continue to do so since we played very good in ft myers. i might also state that when they posted the game times prior to the tournament, we were listed as AAA. I tried to get us changed back to AA, but was told nothing. The best they could tell me was that I could try and get changed back to AA at the manager's meeting oncewe arrived at the manager's meeting we were simply told that we were a new team and nothing would be changed. i am not complaining about our classification, we probably are AAA. Apparently there is a rule somewhere that states new teams are considered AAA.
hope this helps you goodluck!
