Aug. 29, 2004 jah#4 Men's 70 576 posts | ASA new BAN bat list for 2005 It looks like all the new bats that are out and coming out are on the BAN list in 2005. The Evo wicked. Freak plus, and all the rest. The combo ban bat list and the 44/375 ball make ASA the least place to play next year. What do the seniors think. Will RB and the ISSSA copy the ASA bat list? Will other organizations follow suit? Maybe Brucein Ga. Walk, BillyMac, Rabbit Mk39 will give some comment. Thanks |

Aug. 29, 2004 batter4u Men's 65 82 posts | rumor has it that A.S.A.'s contacting all the gyms that might have seniors working out and declaring that any senior that works out more than once a week has to use a wood bat .if the player can curl more than 16 oz, they become a majors player and any hit out of the infied is an out unless it is on the 3rd bounce. this is for our protection as we cannot make decisions regarding softball bats for our own safty due to our deteriorative brain cells. |
Aug. 29, 2004 Walk 192 posts | Well since I work out three to four times a week and hit 300 to 600 softballs a week I guess I will be banned. :) RB will follow ASA rules down the path to hell if he has to. He is too involved with ASA to do anything else. I believe he is a regional director or was at one point in time. Don't be shocked if the 300 compression softball shows up next year. If it is a decent bat and ora decent ball it will not be used in ASA. Now I did hear that the SSWS who follows ASA rules used a 525 compression 44 core ball this weekend and everyone seemed to be happy with the softball. But hey I don't want to say I told anyone this was the best ball for senior softball. Walk |

Aug. 29, 2004 STONEMAN Men's 50 535 posts | I have been told by a MAJOR + PLAYER, that Miken has been sold. As part of the rumor Miken sold do to a law suit brought against Miken, ASA, & others. As the rumor goes, there is a class action going against bat makers & the softball assoc'. Bats were made hot after the 1ST batch passed the testing & that ASA, USSSA, etc. knew this & still took the money. Also, once a bat was declared illegal, bats were made & sold w/ the APPROVAL labels still on bats. Last part of this rumor is that there r several players in the State of Florida, that have gone to court & gotten "court orders". These "orders" allow these players to still use their bats, even if, these bats have been banned. If, one of these players can not use their bat, the Tournament & etc. can be sued & so forth.... |
Aug. 30, 2004 Bobby L Men's 55 29 posts | OK lets hear from the Fla.players,is this true or just a rumor? If it is true I think that there are alot of people who may have an interest in filing a class action suit or individually suing the powers that have been screwing, not only seniors, but all softballers into the ground. |
Aug. 30, 2004 MK39 Men's 50 333 posts | jah#4: The only 3 organazations that have to follow thier own bat standard rules are ASA, NSA and USSSA. ISA is on the same exact path as USSSA. All the other senior softball organazations can decide which one of those 3 that they would like to follow. Right now RB and ISSA want to follow to the letter the ASA progam while Ridge Hooks and the SPA, along with the LVSSA organazations want to follow the NSA program. SSUSA uses the USSSA standard of bpf1.2 but wants to use ASA pitching and ASA ball standards. Result = 3 different sets of rules for bats and balls from them. The best solution for senior players is for all other senior organazations outside of the ASA, USSSA, ASA and ISA to go by the new BPF1.2 standard that USSSA currently has and also to adopt the USSSA 2 ball policy which states that in hot climates a 525 compression ball will be used and in cooler climates a 375 compression ball can be used. The bat manufactuers will soon sign a new liscense aggreement with NSA and that will put NSA and SPA on the same page as USSSA and ISA except RB Thomas who will no doubt stay with the ASA and continue to use the worst ball he can find. We as players have an oportunity with the winter summitt coming up later this year to voice our desire to play with the BPF1.2 standard and the USSSA 2 ball policy and see if they listen, otherwise next year will be as goofey as this year is.
