When will they stop having these national tournaments in Florida in August and September? Sure enough, another hurricane is brewing!

What bats will be allowed this weekend? The tournament information that BruceinGa supplied a few posts above states: "Bats: Only bats listed on the USSSA approved list will be allowed." The only thing I could find on the USSSA site was the list of "licensed bats" that does not include ultras and combats.

MurrayW, unless something has changed since last year no senior bats are allowed. You must swing a utrip or asa bat.
(Utrip bats would be recommended)

THE SCHEDULES WERE SUPPOSE TO BE AVAILABLE TO THE MANAGERS TUESDAY MORNING. BUT, AS USUAL THEY WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NOW ARE TO BE POSTED USSSA WEB SITE. BUT AS OF 1030PM, NOTHING. I GUESS IT IS TO BE A CONFIDENTIAL THING, TO BE A SURPRISE WHEN WE SHOW UP.
I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THAT SSUSA OR MAYBE SPA { THE JURY IS STILL OUT } ARE THE ONLY ASSOCIATIONS THAT KNOW HOW TO RUN A TOURNAMENT. WE WILL SEE HOW THINGS GO NOW THAT RAIN MIGHT BE A FACTOR THIS WEEKEND. BOB

Seriously, why do you guys go to so many of these things at that kind of cost if all you do is complain about how they are run, how you are treated, how you are deceived, how you are lied to, how you are disrespected, etc.?

Who exactly is forcing you?

Dirty,
No one is forcing us to play. But, our team likes the game and we enjoy playing against different teams. All I am trying to do is inform other players, teams, on what is going on at certain tournaments, so they will have better information in deciding where to play. I think that some of these associations are telling us in a round about way that they do not care about senior softball. I am hard headed but, I am starting to get the picture. Bob

Bob, that might very well be the message they are giving, but it seems like almost every association gives the same message if you believe what you read on here.

So for the high cost of attending the events, the few teams you get to play, and the relative meaninglessness of the events, why attend?

You will not be allowed to use those bats in ASA, NSA, or USSSA. http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-general/LegalBats.asp is the bat list for all divisions of USSSA.

I have to ask, why do any teams still go to these worthless tourneys? Ussa, ASA ,Isa, and NSA , LVSSA for a small part when you know what is going to happen, (just to win a National?) it is the same every year, but you and myself still go, only way to stop this is not go, and for the matter fo SSUSA and SPA, they have some tourneys just as bad also, no score keepers, umps that have no clue, fields not taken care of, so it is all over , and seems to me, getting worse. Either go play and not complain or do not send your money in, simple as that. You can always go play golf ?.

Rabbit, thank you for saying what I have been recognizing and doing all along. With so many "nationals", and such little value to each, I just have not seen the point.

And then for guys to attend of completely their own free will, only to complain constantly afterwards, just doesn't make sense.

USSSA dropped out of the Senior Summit 2 years ago in the middle of the Summit meeting of all softball associations.

In case you don't know, the Summit was set up by SS USA to make senior softball better by discussing differences among the associations and to ask individual associations to voluntarily modify its rules to be as consistent as possible.

As a player rep, I was at the meeting when USSSA just walked out and left the Summit.

Do you need to know anything else about USSSA?

Rabbit and Dirty my wife tells me that all the time. If you're going to bitch about it just don't go to these useless tourneyments and waste her spending money. About the balls why don't they let us bring our on balls like the young folks. Then that would stop the bitching on the balls. I heard for Panama City tourneyment the TD got the worthless elite balls for free.44/375. I don't know about the balls that Bruce and Don used. But the 60's and above use a wet towel for a ball. But I hit against the wind the hold tourneyment so I had to adapt. All in all I want play in any more ASA, Nsa, Isa or Ussssa tourneyments. Dirty is right it's my fault. Just like to play. Lefty

I just enjoy playing softball. Playing once a week in a league doesn't "quinch my thirst" for softball. The new teams we meet at "national" tournaments are great fun and also are a guage as to how well we are doing as a team.
The "value" of these tournaments are determined by those who participate and needless to say, I "value" some tournaments more than others.
Complaints are given in hopes that these problems won't reoccur in future tournaments.
As for costing a lot of money, it's all about priorities. Your priorities aren't the same as mine. I would guess that playing 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday would cost more than attending a national softball tournament (depends on where you play golf, of course). Some will say I was crazy to pay for 18 holes at Pinehurst years ago but it was an experience I will remember for a long while.

Hi Sisavic, I know they (USSSA) dropped out, so did NSA, and I understand why also and have no problem with that either. I was just pointing out that you either go and play or stay home,.
It isnt always about the organizations per say,but I have to put the blame on the TD's mostly, and I do not mean all of them either, for the most part, may i say it is about the money?? for heaven sakes could this be true?, or is it on some of the leaders of the organizations, who are to blame also ?? (looks like to me enough blame to go around). who award these tourneys to different citys and or organizations, but then do not police them to make sure the rules are use correctly, the right balls, the legal bats, fields and scorekeepers, just so they can use there Organizations name to draw teams in? and then for them to get a share of the entry fee for using their name? Then after they have a bad tourney, and a lot of compliants, they let them run it again the next year, so go figure?? $$$$$

I am just stating some my opinions from I have heard over the last 11 years that I have been in senoir softball, I am not a real outspoken person, but feel things need to be on the table, this will be the only way it gets straighten out, hopefully. or it will not end up like the younger guys tourneys, in which in some places are dying out.
