May 20, 2009 Secret | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: First Taste of PPR it was BITTER! Increased Protection of the pitcher from balls hit up the middle could be as simple as playing 11 defensive players in all age divisions. One player has to play "in the box". This is an area designated by a semi-circle no more than 10 ft within second base. The defensive player has to be within the box when the pitch is released. The objective is to not have balls hit up the middle. It has been proven in upper age brackets that playing 11 defensive players, fewer balls tend not to be hit up the middle due to the middle man. What happens if the player is not "in the box" and a ball is hit up the middle and hits the pitcher? Dead ball, walk. The defense is to protect the pitcher. Other than that, play ball. |

Aug. 25, 2008 Secret | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: USSSA Senior Nats How could they call this a World Tournament? It would not qualify for a Saturday pick-up ball tournament!. This was the most unorganized event Senior Moments has ever participated in. It makes you wonder if USSSA has ever held an event. The TD had the personality of the balls we were using. He did not have any contingent weather plans and would not have fast-paced the event if not for some heated debates with the 60's teams. The field conditions deteriated after the first game and were not tended for any other games. No scorekeeper, no water, no scoreboard, no bat checks, no roster checks, no awards, uninformed umpires as to what rules to use game to game. And by the way, the schedule was not available until team check-in. While we won our bracket, I can truly say, it does not seem like we won anything. Senior Moments will not be attending any more USSSA tournaments until we can be assured that they will be more organized. Senior Moments Softball Shelby Simmons |

April 29, 2008 Secret | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: TOC Qualifying Is A Joke! RJ23 My post was not meant to reflect on any team, especially your team. You did what they let you do. I respect every player on your team and know many of them personally. The "automatic bid" is a mute point. The point is that there should be NO co-mingling of age groups in a TOC qualifying event. I have expressed my feeling and will live with my teams decision. I will move on to the next 60 AAA tournament and wish all of you good luck. Shelby Simmons Senior Moments 60 AAA |
