Bruce I met you in Panama City. I play ball on the Nashville, Tn. 55 team. I enjoy playing softball with your left fielder Tommy during the week. I just wanted to know if the Alambama 55 went to the Baton Rouge tourny.

Tommy us quite a character. He was out for almost half of last year because of his broken leg. We really missed him. I no longer play for the Ala 55's.
I don't think that the Ala 55's (now Southern Softball) went to La. They played in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago and did well.

Lefty & Bruce

I had a short conversation with a couple of guys from Southern Softball at Baton Rouge. I don't know their names or how they did because I'm playing 60's now and they had us at the other end of the complex.

I talked with Russ from Southern Softball yesterday and he said they placed third and the guys from Pensacola (this summer they were the Pensacola Merchants) won the 50+. Segura Farms didn't do well. He also said the Wolves and another team were there also.
In 55+ he said that Mission played The Matador Club two or three games. I think Mission dominated.

This was a great late season tournament. The fields were generally good, The infield on one of the new fields needs to settle a litte. They're going to be real nice next year. They also have two additional fields that should be on line next year.

It was a well run tournament. Good umps. In the 60AAA we had a little confusion in the brackets on Sat., but everything got worked out. The weather in Baton Rouge is great this time of year.

The only results I know are from 60 AAA, where Team Toyota double dipped us (Teeters of Arkansas) to win it.

By the way, Team Toyota also provided jambalya and gumbo for lunch all three days. Nice gesture from a bunch of class guys. Congratulations to them on their win!

Sorry Mission, everyone knows you aren't 55. I think they just put the major plus teams in one bracket. Russ did say the jambalya and gumbo were great. They also provided Gatorade.

BruceinGA-You were right the first time. Mission is moving up to 55 next year, so this was our first tournament together. I was impressed by how well we hit as a team against a real good Matador team. I told the guys afterwards that "we don't want to peak in November!"

Looking forward to next year. I also heard from some of the Matador guys at the BBQ the tournament sponsored Saturday night that Winky was putting Faith Electric back together in 2005. Should be a lot of fun!

This was an excellent tournament, with good food and fun. Also provided were banannas and other munchies. I hope to come back next year (and play my first year at 60)!
